Running 44:30 [3]

Arthurs Seat State Park.

Parked at a mountain bike car park and went for a slow trot on some less-mountain bikey tracks (Friends Track and down to OT Dam). Quite slow. Leg a bit sore above the back of my knee.

Have been feeling a bit out of it all week (tired and bad headache) but feeling better today (although I still fell asleep on the way home).

Note

Watched people run at Parkrun in the morning.

Then kind of watched people run at Portsea Running Festival in the afternoon (well, we got doughnuts and went for a walk).

Running 2:46:25 [3] 14.83 km (11:13 / km)

Hotham.

I think it's got steeper since last time. That was a tough day out!

It was drizzling at the start, so started in my green jacket with my green bag (pity I'd forgotten my green buff). Rain stopped pretty soon after (or even before?) the start, but couldn't be bothered taking the jacket off. Trotted along the undulating part, which funnily didn't seem as steep this year.

Then headed up the steep bit. Lots of passing people. Happy to say that noone passed me after the creek crossing. Pretty much 100% walking up the wall. Got a little bit of a trot up with some people from Gippsland on the spur in the middle, but then left them in my dust up the steep steep wall. Really struggled on that bit. Also started to get period pains towards the top, which just compounded my suffering! Would be kind of interested to see how much slower I was than last year, but it would also be depressing and I didn't have my Garmin anyway because it was raining and it doesn't really like the rain.

Full disclosure - one guy passed me just near the treeline, but then I was better than him on the downhills (shock horror!!) and got back in front of him.

The final bit across the top that I usually love was a slog through the fog. Such a tough day at the office.

Saved by Jayne and Christoph helping me change in the hut (I have no shame) and Jayne procuring me some drugs.
