Second day of a mini-training camp I planned when I thought broots and the kids would be in Massachusetts for a few days. They didn't end up going, so working around some family stuff, but still getting it in. Started today's ride inside on the trainer, then paused to help unload kids/groceries/my bike from the car.

Transitioned to my mtn bike (which is in need of a new front derailleur) and headed out into a stiff 20mph headwind with occasional 40mph gusts. I had prepared myself for that mentally and it actually wasn't so bad. Didn't pay attention to speed, just regulated effort based on conditions. My HR monitor was on-and-off covered with clothes, so not accurate, but effort was steady.

EZ 5k off the bike. Started off sluggish but loosened up. HR was slightly elevated relative to effort, but definitely not this elevated...
