Running race 34:47 [5] 8.0 km (4:21 / km)

did not run all that well. Finishing behind some people that I would normally out run. Finished fifth women out of 240. PW by about 90 seconds. The course is totally flat with today having 20 mph winds on the way out and some cross winds to deal with on the way in.

Our team of Nadim Ahmed, Jon Torrance, Tom Nolan, Paul S. and myself easily won out of four teams. I knew we would be tough to beat since all of us either placed first or second in our age groups. We got one big trophy and medals for our individual efforts.

Not long ago this was my threshold training pace. Running any kind of race in early September would have helped went to long without really racing hard.

Shooting 1:30:00 [1]
(injured)

even after running hard redeemed myself at the range easily doing the best training so far. Did well both prone and standing.

after napping my hip is very sore so sore that my walking gait is not right. OK shooting. Hopefully just some aches and pains from today's run.

Running 32:00 [1] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

stretching the legs out.

Thursday Oct 29, 2009 #

Running 40:00 [1] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Shooting 15:00 [1]

dried fired bearfoot and with running shoes with orthotics. did well considering all of the upper body work the day before.

Shooting 1:30:00 [3]

switched and used the other orthotics and hit at least 90% standing. Kind of sucks that one thing like this messes up your shooting so dramatically. Did not shoot that well prone, but not able to stretch out my legs since there were three security guards qualifying in the neighboring lanes.

Weightlifting 50:00 [2]

since the other weightlifting regiments only helped me improve so much time for something different. Changed to doing high reps with lighter weight. For me just backing off about 10% in weight allows me to almost double my reps. Did almost all upper body since the race is so close. Did some core work and balancing.

Bike riding 15:00 [1]

spin bike to keep the legs loose.

Yard work 45:00 [1]

rake leaves.

Shooting 15:00 [1]

cleaned the gun and dried fired. Felt stable standing without shoes, but without bullets not sure if it would be a hit. Wore the orthotics and very unstable realized they lab made them to thin basing it on my weight and not what I told them to do. Now they get to do it over for free. This was probably the reason for the leg pains.

Result of the lead test came back and it is really low only 7 ug/dl- a normal background amount. With all of the shooting it is easy to get overexposed to lead about 1/3 of all shooters have really high numbers.

Running warm up/down 40:00 [1] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

ran to the track and back.

Running intervals 7:00 [4] 1.0 mi (7:00 / mi)

ran 4 X 200m with eqaul recovery. tried to push myself and not go over the top. All in 45 s.

Monday Oct 26, 2009 #

Shooting 45:00 [1]

not shooting that well standing so worked more on prone.

Biathlon 11:00 [1] 1.4 mi (7:51 / mi)

Ran shorter loops and practiced twice prone hitting 4 and 4.

Sunday Oct 25, 2009 #

Biathlon 50:00 [3] 5.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

made shorter loops so I could stop and shoot more. Ran about 600m so did it several times. Only shot twice prone since I hit 4 and 3 so worked on standing. Luckily somebody was watching me shoot and told me when I hit since the low light made it difficult to tell. Hit from 1-3 targets mostly hitting two. still kind of disappointing since all of the training I put in. trained until the last cease fire since it was 20 mins before sunset and getting dark.

Shooting 1:45:00 [2]

started with dry firing. Zeroed and worked on shooting at 100 yds had to really change the windage a lot. I think I will skip this for a while until after the biathlon since this competition does not start until April and my jacket is on order which will only help. Went back to 50 yds and finished on the medal target. Did some relay loading also.
