Ski Orienteering race (Harriet Hollister: Blue) 1:26:42 [4] *** 10.36 km (8:22 / km)
spiked:17/17c shoes: Salomon 9.1 Skate 1999?

High 20's / low 30's & cloudy.
Excellent snow coverage and grooming considering the recent meltdown. The third time down the Viper hill on Sidewinder trail was a bit much, especially going to the same or virtually the same spot each time.

After skiing virtually all the trails in the park a few times, I would have made some slightly different route choices. Some of the narrow trails weren't as narrow as usual, especially one key snow shoe trail near the pavilion that was suitable for skiing up or down.

Ski Orienteering race (Harriet Hollister: Green) 38:11 [4] *** 4.5 km (8:29 / km)

2nd course for the day. My official course is Red, but the distances indicated that it may be a combination of 2 of the 3 blue maps, and I didn't want to directly duplicate controls and routes I had done previously.

Raining in the beginning of this course. Turned to sleet and snow towards the middle and stopped by the end. Mostly duplicate controls, including another trip down the Viper hill on the Sidewinder trail. Ugh.

Skate Skiing (Harriet Hollister) 35:00 [4] 3.5 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon 9.1 Skate 1999?

Flag pickup. Another trip down Sidewinder and 35 meter climb back out to the main trails.

Skate Skiing warm up/down (Harriet Hollister) 10:00 [2] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)

Snow Shoveling (2") 10:00 [2]

Skate Skiing (Mendon) 40:00 [3] 10.0 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon 9.1 Skate 1999?

16 degrees and nice sunset.
Thin coverage in areas. Should have brought older skis.

Note
(rest day)

The workout yesterday was painful. I should have taken the day off as a rest day. I also need to consider going harder when I do a ski workout and taking more time off to recover.

Note

The road to Bristol Nordic (South Hill Road) has some large, apparently sharp gravel on a few of the final climbs. There were 2 flat tires that I witnessed on Monday. Check your spare before you go there; mine had 25 of the 60 pounds of pressure it was supposed to have.

Skate Skiing (Bristol Mtn) 1:00:00 [3] 13.2 km (4:33 / km)
weight:142lbs shoes: Salomon 9.1 Skate 1999?

29 degrees. Another 6-8" of new snow and still coming down. The snow was slow, but the coverage was good.

Variety of double-pole, no pole, V1 weak, and V2 laps.

Skate Skiing (Bristol Mtn) 2:00:00 [3] 31.2 km (3:51 / km)
shoes: Salomon 9.1 Skate 1999?

28 degrees with light wind.
6" of new snow, yet the snow was quite brown already.

Felt a bit tired, and the snow was slower than Friday. Mixture of hard and easy laps with a mixture of V2, V1, no poles, and double-poling.

Garnet Hill Ski-O

Ski Orienteering race (Garnet Hill) 1:37:00 [4] *** 25.0 km (3:53 / km)
spiked:19/19c shoes: Salomon 9.1 Skate 1999?

Skied fairly well, but made some poor choices of controls and order. I was optimistically expecting to get everything initially, so got everything at the bottom of the hill, including one control well out of the way.

Had 24 of 31 points with 15 minutes to go, but should have stayed closer to the finish. Lost 3/4 of my points to the late penalty.

Skate Skiing (Garnet Hill) 45:00 [3] 10.0 km (4:30 / km)
shoes: Salomon 9.1 Skate 1999?

Skied to the car to bring it back, then skied around a bit, including taking the high road down to Roger's Rd pickup.
