Orienteering race (Bushtrail O-Ringen 1) 52:11 [4] 5.15 km (10:08 / km) +210m 8:25 / km

0930 - Bushtrail 1:10'000 5m contours. Tough day with 2 x 5km races with a 3 hour rest in between. Nice concept however, but I just need to be in better fitness / health. I had a poor start to Stage 1, lack of concentration, tiredness, etc., that saw me mess up both # 1 (badly) and #2 (less so). I got into a rhythm after that. Lungs were a bit weak after the bronchitis but breathing only became a problem when it got hilly after about 1.5km. Pace slowed after that as the rocky terrain also took effect. Legs were also tired, but I pushed through it. Was expecting to come 3rd or so, even having plans on calling it a day, but everyone seems to have had it rough. Finished 1st with Paul +6m and Alex right behind him.
Orienteering race (Bushtrail O-Ringen 2) 49:08 [3] 4.6 km (10:41 / km) +200m 8:46 / km

1300 - Bushtrail 1:10'000 5m contours. I backtracked on my plans to call it a day. Had a good 3 hour rest before the race and was also starting to look forward to it. I set off at a more reasonable pace, thanks to safety net of the 6 min head start on Paul and Alex, which seems to have ensured that I felt good all the way round the course. This time no nav problems, although I did take the wrong route choice to the penultimate control (1m20s mistake). Otherwise I was able to get splits on Paul / Alex at a couple of spots and saw that they weren't closing the 6m gap. Took 1st overall, but also managed to have the fastest time for stage 2 (just, by 20s over Alex). Unexpected, but great confidence result.
