Mountain Biking race (Cape Storm Rogaine) 3:22:23 [4] *** 60.81 km (18.0 kph) +630m
shoes: Specialized Epic Comp 2006

0815 - Team up with Mac again. After yesterday's disappointment, it was great to have a 2nd opportunity. Felt better than Saturday, although still coughing a bit. Started well and maintained a high speed in coolish weather. Looks like we also hit the perfect combination of the 30 CPs for the shortest distance. We were originally aiming for 4hrs, but revised that down towards 3 hours early in the race already. We started in the SE and cleaned up all the controls in an anti-clockwise direction. Last 45 mins were tough, with the temperature climbing and battling into a headwind on the return to the finish. Took the victory by a large margin, with Bennie and Sakkie 2nd some 50 minutes behind. Av 18.8 and Mx 40.1. Rolling Tm was 3:13:43.

Orienteering race (Cape Storm Rogaine) 3:48:37 [5] *** 24.1 km (9:29 / km) +335m 8:52 / km
shoes: Salomon 3D Pro yellow #10

0840 - Bit of a disaster. Teamed up with Mac, but have been ill for 5 days going into the race. We started off okay. I felt like crap for the 1st hour, then improved for the 2nd. The 3rd was horrible and it was just going to get worse. After 3hrs into the 6-hr Rogaine, and with just about 50% of the CPs punched, we decided to call it quits and head back. We started with the NE side of the map, cleaning up the NW and W side before returning to the finish. Garry M and Jeremy G went on to win. Forest is beautiful at the moment. Ideal for O'.
