Mountain Biking 1:19:49 [3] 17.3 km (13.0 kph)
shoes: Specialized Epic Comp 2006

0830 - joined Carine, Jacques and Roberto at the new MTN Bike park in Fourways. Steep entry fee (R50), but fun none-the-less. Worth it if you make a day trip out of it. Some nice tracks, but they still got to develop a bit further to be better than Logwood. Mx 36.0 Av 13.0

Hiking (Amphitheatre) 2:30:00 [3] 4.0 km (37:30 / km)

1200 - After a lazy morning, a great breakfast and a swim in the pool on top of the falls (photos), we trekked back down. A bit quicker and at least this time we got to see the scenery.

Hiking (Amphitheatre) 3:00:00 [2] 4.0 km (45:00 / km)

1800 - It took us 4.5 hours to get up to the top of the Tugela Falls, but I'll only log 3hrs... we stopped more than a few times. Tough in the dark, mist and light drizzle. Got our tents up just in time for the downpour, so we called it a night and decided to change the New Years Eve banquet into a New Years Day breakfast do. Oh, and it stopped raining at 00h01.

Mountain Biking 1:27:41 [3] 30.82 km (21.1 kph)
shoes: Specialized Epic Comp 2006

0800 - Randpark and Weltevreden Park.

Orienteering (Kloofendal) 30:24 [5] **** 2.95 km (10:18 / km) +160m 8:06 / km
shoes: Salomon 3D Pro black #9

1630 - GG and Rasmus arrived this morning, so we decided to go for a quick training run. I pulled out the sprint map of Kloofedal from 14 Aug '05. Not much had changed on the map, except maybe the veg was a bit more overgrown. It was bloody hot. I started first and only got caught by GG (+2 mins) in the sprint finish. He more or less matched the winning time from 3 years ago (Gary de Klerk), but today was a) a lot hotter b) thick summer bush and grass and c) no control markers. Jet lag probably also helped, as did adjusting the Gauteng ridge orienteering. Rasmus had a time round about 29 or 30 min.
