A nice jaunt in the rain.
Not many out.
May have ran through some kind of service at the Footscray war memorial

Very eery being the only one in the pool with 2 lifeguards.

Bike warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Decided to take a scenic detour home seeing as the Maribyrnong path has reopened at the Matsu.

Bike (commute) 30:00 [3]

Was feeling completely physically drained at the end of last week and the weather didn't help.

Have changed my program up a little bit.
Feeling good now!
5 PM

swimming (Footscray Park) 20:00 [3]

Forgot to check the clock when I started, so this is a guess.

Caught the tram to Footscray Park after work and went for a swim.
Nice pool and cheap.
Bad timing though (all bar two lanes were swim school).
First proper swim in ages.
My swimming coach has given me a gradual program.

I swam

5 X

2 laps freestyle, 2 laps breaststroke.

After about 200m my arms hurt, but then by 300m I was good to go forever.

It was raining when I got out, so I had a fun ride with the rain blowing into my face down the highway home.

doing some testing of the new bike; not 100% road ready yet.

Very nice ride down the Footscray wharves and along the river.

Note

Big mapping session at the You Yangs-

Didn't feel very productive, but once I got it into OCAD, realised I had covered a fairly serious chunk of the map. Found a macadamia in the shade of the south-eastern spur.

Mapping at Northern You Yangs
A bit of a hike in today to continue mapping the high ridgeline of the Eastern Hill. Was pleasantly surprised by open forest (yellow / white), and large boulder clusters. Was not expecting so much detail.
The upside is that this will be another great patch (large) of runnable granite, and provides a second corridor through the eastern side of the map- but the downside is that it will take about 2 days longer than estimated to complete because of the huge amount of detail.

Also found a good track travelling up to the main ridgeline.

Photo is from today's lunch spot.

Slow easy.
Noticed that my training since Easter has been at a fair pace and made a concious effort to take this one a bit slower.

Very nice along the creek after the rain. Lots of great dogs.

Note

Mapping at Northern You Yangs- knocking off two pockets of complex rock that I'd worked around. I'm definately going to have to go over the central hill again.
Took a little longer than expected: 4hours 35min.

Echidnas are back out.
3 PM

Run tempo (terrain run) 28:48 [3] 5.36 km (5:22 / km) +176m 4:37 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 14

Today was rostered "7km tempo Stoney Ck loop".
But as I was out at the You Yangs, I thought I'd be better off running on soft ground out there than on concrete at home.
The loop turned out to be a bit shorter than I expected- but had more hills than the Stoney Creek loop :D

Run (Kingsville Loop) 16:39 [1] 3.52 km (4:44 / km) +68m 4:19 / km
shoes: Brooks Mach 7

Easy loop; had to wear my flats as my poor little footsies are still recovering from Easter, and the're the only thing I've got without an arch.
Calves did not like that decision.
Also discovered my HR band battery is dead.

Note

Mapping at Northern You Yangs-
Got into a complex bunch of rock in the centre of the map that had been annoying me for a while, but got rained on so went home.
