[Course 2: 6.0km/22c/125m] Not feeling very switched on today, just wanted a decent run and get it over with. All the SI boxes were just dangling and required a two-handed dib :(
Dithered to #1 (+20s). Poor route to #2 and overran it from the L, hidden in a bush, it would've been obvious from the R (+60s). Bad route to #4 (+10s), then, thankfully, some fast routing. Missed a cut-through for #13 (+10s). #15 had the wrong description ("open land" when it should've been "tree"), but it was v obv. Then dithered in the wrong clearing for #16 (+35s), poor route for #17 (+10s), The heavens opened for #18 and I struggled in racing flats and no compass for #19 to #22 in the wooded park, down to walking pace in the mud in places. Soaked. Drove home through crazy thunderstorms.
Result: 5th/35. Back at download I overheard there were problems with #1 for the early runners (it was missing?! seems fairly typical today given I found a mistake in the description for #15 and when I ran to #1 the metal tag attaching it had 122 on it (although the SI box was correctly numbered 100)) and it looks like everyone was scored from #2 onwards, so my terrible run there didn't count, a lucky escape: 36:29 for the result, winner did 30:24. Looks Like Derick M didn't run so I'll be back to the top of the SEOUL league.
