Brown. Nominal 9.5km, 270m ascent.
Blundered #6 after a good approach on this long leg (wrong spur +4:30), and dithered to find the right trench for #9 (+1:30), but otherwise OK. Slow trudging through thigh-high heather at times, not nice. 7th/14.
http://www.sn.routegadget.co.uk/rg2/#89&course...Finally, I have broken 1200 points for forest orienteering: 1201
https://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/index.php?p...; [Bah, published result now says 1188, I'd have been +1200 without an error at #6]
Historical note: I raced here towards the end of my comeback orienteering season (2015, after +25 years away) and finished Short Brown in 1h37, 51st/65 finishers. I doubt my running's improved much since, but my navigation certainly has! I'm finding it also makes a huge difference to have raced an area before - you get knowledge of the lay of the land, what features might be noteable, etc.
