cycling (mountain) 41:56 [3] 11.21 km (3:44 / km)
(rest day)

Some good cross training to wrap up the week before jumping into the next period of hard training. It rained all yesterday and this morning, so the trails were muddy and my tire got super clogged, took a good 5 minutes scraping it off with my fingers. Lots of fun riding back on the roads and sending mud flying everywhere lol

Ah the good ol' pink spikes...
My time isn't good, but I wasn't planning on racing a 15, and I have zero speed, so I wasn't super invested in the race. *tried* to hang back first lap but still hit 78?!?!? yeah next lap was definitely 90... whoops. This was fun, but a little bummed I wasn't even close to my 1600-converted PR of 5:06. Maybe this summer.
Side note on the 5k- I was the only entry, so on Thursday they decided to cancel it and offered I do the 1500 or the first half of the 10k. I chose the latter (It's what I've been training for) but upon checking entries this morning, I was the only female in the MENS 10k. So this morning consisted of frantic emails and a very hasty last-minute switch.

2x200, 4x400, 2x200. Splits: 38, 40 / 85, 85, 86, 84 / 40, 40
I got 4 hrs of sleep last night finishing a take home midterm for honors chem, and Wednesdays I'm either in class, at work, or finishing a lab report from 9-6, so I was very tired. Also there was an insane wind coming from the west, so my first 200 split in my 400s would be 40, and my second would be 45. Crazy.
Not sure how I feel about this 5k on Saturday. It's the MSU open meet, and I don't know how I'll compare to the competition (or if I'll even be in the same race as the collegiate women). Also, it's 5000 meters. On a TRACK.

Note
(rest day)

Rest day? Or no time to do anything besides work and studying day?

Small reflection on this weekend - I was reminded of why I've been putting in so much work towards orienteering for the last 6 months. Racing in the woods was a good reality check, and I feel ready once more to embrace a full training schedule. This week will be easier, partially because I'm racing a track 5k on saturday, partially to rest from trials, and partially because, well, I have a lot of make-up work. But next week... oh boy. I'm excited.
