2012 was an injury interrupted year. Major injuries including a calf tear after Easter and Knee medial meniscus tear from July to September kept me out of competitions or restricted my performances in them.

I was keen to run the 2012 Melbourne Marathon and I was in great form in July. However it was the excess of long hard runs that resulted in my knee injury. Although another marathon has appeal to me, I would prefer to prolong my orienteering career and preserve my knees for many years to come.

The highlights of the year were;
Top 5 NOL results in NOL Sprint Ballarat, Brisbane and Darwin
6th place NOL night race, Darwin
2nd place SA Badge and SA Middle, Wilpena.
2nd place in Vic Sprint Champs, Haileybury College
14th Elite, 2012 Sprint The Bay NZ
Top 10 Easter overall
2nd place in 5Ms Relay, March
2011/12 Park & Street A course winner

My most enjoyable races were the Wilpena races and Sprint The Bay.
The most painful was definately the 2km limp back from the Queensland NOL multi loop race with a torn calf, and subsequent 16 hours in the car back to Melbourne.
