Australian Champsionship Long Distance - JWOC Relay map
I felt a little better, but it was cold conditions and I was still coughing before the start. I decided to wear a short sleeve thermal under my o top.
A good clean race, well executed, but not enough speed. Again, the chest infection restricted my aerobic capacity. At the end my legs felt fine, but my breathing held me back. I found that I could run for a long time, but not at high speed. This was reflected in my result - about 10th Aussie, but only 3 minutes behind 4th.
I saw quite a few runners on the course. Several runnerscaught me, despite starting in front of me! In other words they made mistakes, and then caught up again through superior speed.
I ended up finishing withh and Neil Kerrison. Rune and Mark Lawson were running much faster and went past me, but both made large rrors.

Disappointing considering I was actually quite fit before the cold. I think I could have got top 5 easily.

Western Plains Challenge 2 - JWOC Middle map
Still coughing in the morning, but with a little less flegm now.
Reasonable run, but struggled on the hills with my cold, and lacked pace on the flat.
Lost 1.5 minutes by running off the map from 5-6. Again the course was printed very close to the edge of the map.
The end of the course was fun with lots of short legs, loops and changes of direction. Shep was course setter for JWOC Middle, and most of the course was based on this.
I didn't push too hard, trying to save any fitness I had left until Saturday.

Western Plains Challenge 1 - JWOC Long Distance map
Still coughing my guts up in the morning, but feeling a little better than Sunday, so I thought I would give it a go.
Started ok, only losing 1 minute to Karl Dravitski in the first 4km.
Then I started having breathing difficulties again, and I got exhausted climbing hills.
I started walking, and at 16 I decided there was no point going on, and I jogged back to the finish.

I saw a doctor in the afternoon, and got some antibiotics to help my cough.
