Orienteering race 52:00 [5] ***
(sick)

Australian Relay Championship
Running for Victoria #2 team
Started 2nd leg with Blair and Ian Anderson.
Terrible start. I climbed high on a hillside to a gully junction, only to find the control about 3 contours too low. This allowed Blair and Ian to get away. I then lost 45 seconds on #3. Then I improved a little and ran well to catch up a 2 minutes to Blair and Ian just before the second spectator control. I was feeling the best I had all week, and started to get a small gap. However, Blair had a split control at the third last, which enable him to take the lower route choice, while I had to climb the hill going straight, allowing him to finish about 30 seconds ahead of me.
Evan and Jim ran about 53mins each. We were the 3rd NOL team, after NSW and SA, with Troy DNFing the Vic #1 team after missing the spectator control.

Long drive home straight after Jim finished. 12:45pm to 12:15am. Route choice via Wellington, Molong, Cowra, Bookham and the Hume Hwy was a good one. Most of the night hours were on dual carriageway.
The Albury bypass was quite exciting!
