Note
(rest day)

Grand Final BBQ at my boss' house. He's also a Crows supporter, and his wife supports Geelong, so it was an enjoyable Grand Final all round.

The game was pretty ordinary. Apart from Geelong supporters, I don't expect a lot of neutral supporters to be rushing out and buying the DVD.

Running 40:00 [2]

Ran down to the Grand Final parade. Good football weather - wet and cold. The players were in the back of utes on chairs. Gary Ablett was the only soft player to be using an umbrella.
To continue the footy theme, my run then continued around the MCG. At 1pm today, there were already about 20 members lined up outside the gates with their mattresses and sleeping bags. I guess they are making sure that they get their favourite seat for tomorrow.
The ground looked in good condition, with some men just putting the finishing touches on some sponsor logos.
I'm hoping for a Geelong win, but I always fear Port Adelaide in Grand Finals. Unlike the cats, they have little pressure, and several players have been there before.

Running tempo 20:00 [4] 5.5 km (3:38 / km)

20 minute threshold run - a lap and a half of the tan.
About 13:40 for the full lap, then up to the Anderson St corner and back again to round out 20 minutes.
A bit of a struggle from 2-3km into the wind, but then improved near the end. Legs are a little tired from a hard week.

Running long 1:15:00 [2] 15.0 km (5:00 / km)

Mike's meander. Just me and Mike this week. Quite an easy pace, but that was all that I could handle after yesterday's hard session.
Still a bit tired in the legs at the end of the run.

I almost logged another session today titled "chasing Connex".
My yearly metcard was swallowed this morning by the ticket validator at Dennis Station. The machine died, and no-one else could validate their ticket. I hopped on the train anyway and explained this to the staff at Parliament station. They gave me a form to fill out and a number to ring. Upon ringing the number, they directed me to go to Flinders St to pick up some new tickets.
I walked from Paliament to Flinders St because a) I didn't have a tickets, and b) there was a union protest holding up all trams anway.
I had to complete another form, and then get it witnessed by a police officer. Most police were busy at the protest - perhaps I should have just asked one of them on the street corner for an autograph, but I did find one at the Flinders Lane police station. Finally after returning to the Station Master at Flinders St I got a replacement monthly ticket. Apparently the rest of the year's tickets will come in the mail after Connex processing!

Not exactly how I had planned on spending my morning, but at least is was an acceptable outcome!

Ganly session. A top quality group today. All of the guns were out today. I was running ok, but struggled to be in the top 8 runners in the group.

Running 50:00 [2]

Monday night run from Nicola's house from Northcote to North Fitzroy and back with Torgeir, Blair, Stuart and Susannah. Slow pace to start, but picked up on the way home.
We passed some houses for sale at rediculous prices - $1.4M for weatherboard in Northcote!

Running long 1:30:00 [2]

Long run around the hills of Kew. A bit slow this morning, but I handled most of the hills ok.
