Note
(rest day)

Rest day before the Romsey relay.
Spent some of the day walking around Melbourne zoo with the kids. This was a nice loosener.

Running race (Corporate Cup) 13:03 [5] 3.83 km (3:24 / km) +40m 3:14 / km

Corporte Cup Round 6
Still recovering from my virus on the weekend. I wasn't planning on racing, but I thought that I would go down and watch. Anyway I felt good on the warm up, so I thought I would at least have a go and see how it went. If nothing else it would be good training.
The race went well, especially the first half. I ran with no watch, but seemed to go through 2km in 6:55, and on track for a sub 13 run.
The legs felt fine, but my breathing started to suffer a bit on the way home. Not surprising given I was recovering from a cold. I held on as best as I could, but I couldn't maintain the speed at just failed to break the 13 minute mark.

Running warm up/down 40:00 [2]

Running 50:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:33 / km)

Feeling better today, and good enough to run.
The legs felt fresh and loose, and I was feeling nice and light, but I don't think I've fully recovered just yet.
My head was spinning a bit while running and I was a little dizzy. I also got a stomach cramp when the pace picked up a bit on the last km of the tan. Ran up to the corner on the second lap, and then took it easy back to the city. Nice to be out again. I'll build up through the week, but won't race hard until Sunday.

Note

On the way through the city last Thursday I saw the remains of a car vs pedestrian accident. The car windscreen was smashed and police had cordened off the area, so I didn't like the chances of the pedestrian.
It turned out that it was Melbourne Midday Miler member / Corporate Cup Runner / MTB / Rogainer, Chris Osborne.

"Last Thursday morning on the way back to the office following a trial
building emergency evacuation Chris Osborne was struck by a car at the
intersection of Spring St and Collins St.
At this point the known extent of injuries to Chris include a fractured
skull and sternum and a neck fracture, but no spinal cord damage. Chris
is in Royal Melbourne Hospital and has undergone several operations and
remains in an induced coma in the Intensive Care Unit. There is no
official prognosis as yet, but as of 10:00am Monday he is in a
stable condition.

Chris' partner Sal and the family, including Ash Crowther, know our
thoughts are with them.

Please do not visit the hospital for the present. We'll send you an
update on his situation as information comes to hand."

7th wedding anniversary

Some readers may remember attending our wedding on 28th Oct 2000.

Didn't do much - I was too sick. Either Anne or I seem to have been sick or pregnant on our anniversary each year for about the last 5 years.
