Running tempo 52:30 [4] 12.0 km (4:23 / km)

8.95km tempo in 36minutes over an undulating course, starting at the puujaba bend, along the Yarra Blvd, across the dog poo bridge, and back on the bike path to Fairfield boathouse. Struggled to keep the pace below 4m/km on the hilly boulevard, but quite a strong finish on the flat section back from the Collingwood Children's farm.

Running 1:03:00 [3] 13.5 km (4:40 / km)

River run.
4:22m/km pace for 9km for the main section along the river, starting at the tan and finish at Birrarung Marr. Good pace, but still at talking pace.

Running intervals 1:00:00 [4] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)

2 laps of the tan
500m on, 500m off for the first lap
250m on, 250m off on the second.
A solid workout. Some small cramps in my calfs right near the end.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)

Start of my 2008 campaign, with pre-season training kicking off today.

I started with a midday miler run to Fawkner Park in the rain. Returned via the tan, MCG, and Fitzroy Gardens. The best I have felt in a couple of weeks.
Plenty of teachers in red ponchos striking and making their way to Parliament House. This certainly caused a lot of congestion on the footpaths.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Only 16 weeks until my next race now.
I'll take it easy until I can start eating properly without feeling horrible.

Orienteering race 15:58 [5] *** 4.0 km (4:00 / km)
spiked:13/13c (sick)

My stomach still felt quite ordinary in the morning, and again I was on the toilet about 6 times between waking and starting my race.

The warm up was abbreviated, as I probably only had about 20 minutes of running energy in me, and I didn't want to waste too much before the start.

I navigated well, and was quite smooth, but I just wasn't fast enough on the day. I moved ok, but I could definately tell that I had been through a tough week, as I didn't really have a top gear on some of the easier fast legs. I think it would have been a very close race for the lead if I was fully fit.

I was surprised to finish as high as second. Toph was third, followed by Adam, Jim, Blair and Warren.

Adrian ran well and won by 50 seconds.
