Running hills 50:00 [4] 9.5 km (5:16 / km)

Fairfield Boathouse hill circuit - 8 hills
I nice morning for a run, interrupted by 100 overweight boot campers using my hill, and getting in the way. Priority should be given to the faster runners. How dare they take up all of my track :-)

I also passed 1000 carrier pigeons just as they were taking off from their cages. I had to duck for cover to avoid their falling "bombs". 2 got left behind and I watched them try to catch up for the next 5 minutes.

Running hills 1:00:00 [3] 11.0 km (5:27 / km)

4 Airlie St hills, around the tan, and then 2 killer loops.
Melbourne Girls Grammer School were doing their fun run with the whole school running around the tan, so we passed about 500 teenage girls. Most of them seemed to take a short cut behind the Myer Music Bowl, and we could see the teachers chasing after them trying to get them back on track.

Running intervals 26:00 [4] 7.0 km (3:43 / km) +200m 3:15 / km

Botanical Fartlek
I almost logged this as an intensity 5, but I usually save those for races.
It was supposed to be a fartlek, but the floats were still at about 80% or sub 4min pace, so the 2 laps were very quick.
I was about 200m behind the leaders, but I still ran ok and finished together with Slips.
Thorny has just started his Gold Coast marathon preparation and was driving the pace at the front.

Running 52:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:47 / km)

Usually this kind of run would be of intensity 2, but today I was pushing the jogger with a 15kg load (Torren) in it. He's really a bit too big for the jogger, but I figured that if he rode his bike he would probably only get a couple of kms and then want to be carried home.

I took Torren to the Collingwood Childrens Farm to see the animals. He now said he wants to do this everyday!

A perfect autumn day to be at home, and too good to be indoors. Fine, sunny, with light winds - 24 degrees.

I got to taste a bit of domestic lifestyle today. Walked Mason to school, and then took Torren to swimming lessons in the morning. It's good fun to see them growing up.

Recovery (non running) 30:00 [1]

Orienteering with Mason and Torren at Woodlands. I was hoping to go for a run, but there was nobody around to look after the boys, so I had to be content with going for a walk with them.

A bit disappointing for a CATI event - there was no course shorter than 3.9km. Instead we had to choose a 90min score event, with only a couple of controls on tracks. It was difficult to teach the kids any orienteering skills with no kids course.

Great area though for newcomers. The kids enjoyed the kangaroos and the flying kangaroos (Qantas planes that they could see landing and taking off from Tullamarine).
