Orienteering race 42:00 [4] 10.0 km (4:12 / km)

Street Orienteering at La Trobe Uni. 60 min Score event, but I got them all in 42 minutes so there was never much doubt about the route choice, other than I was going to have to get them all.
It was great to have a colour map, but the course was still fairly basic and didn't use the complex buildings much apart from about 3 controls.
Physically I started well, but I struggled to keep up the pace in the second half.

Puujaba hills

Running 1:05:00 [2] 13.0 km (5:00 / km)

2.5 laps of the tan.
It's certainly May - no more complaining about the heat. I managed to avoid most of the rain though today, but there was mud and puddles to avoid around the tan.

Running race 13:02 [5] 3.83 km (3:24 / km)

Corporate Cup round 4
13:02 running solo. Not bad considering that I couldn't make the mass start after a work meeting ran late.

Running 50:00 [2] 10.0 km (5:00 / km)

Lap of the tan. My legs felt fresh after a rest day, but they were still a little stiff and sore when I stretched out (probably because I didn't do much warm down on Sunday). I stopped and did some stretching for 10 minutes after the lap.
Works are continuing on the tan track which could cause some issues for Corporate Cup tomorrow.

(rest day)

Was planning on the Monday night run, but I had to stay home and get the kids off to bed.

Orienteering race 53:55 [5] *** 9.0 km (5:59 / km)
ahr:166 max:173 spiked:14/14c

State Series #3 Fanklin Gorge

1 minute start intervals after Warren, Bryan, Leon and Jim.
After yesterday I wanted to make sure that I increased my work rate, especially early on. A great start allowed me to catch both Leon and Jim by control 2.

Leon was moving well, but he did slow down quite often to navigate. I also took some better route choices near the gorge and this allowed me to take the lead. On the long leg to 9 I accelerated and opened a bit of a gap, but soon enough Leon was back again. He made a few wobbles which could have cost him dearly had he been on his own.
Finally on the last control he left the saddle in the wrong direction and lost contact with me.

This race taught me that I can push myself a bit harder in the forest, especially when it is easy to run and I know where I am going.

My GPS unit couldn't find the satellites during my warm up, so I couldn't get a tracking for this race. However the heart rate data was quite useful, and shows quite a difference from yesterdays race. Today the heart rate was very stable between 165 and 170 bpm.
Yesterday there were quite a few dips below 160 when my work rate was poor.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)
