Orienteering race 50:20 [5] ***** 7.1 km (7:05 / km) +200m 6:13 / km
spiked:15/18c (injured)

Winter Classic Day 1
Kooyoora Spur

Reasonable run, but it could have been a whole lot better. I felt fast, but a couple of small errors cost me the race.
My routes from 5-6 and 6-7 involved a lot of zig zagging and were far from ideal. I knew exactly where I was, but I didn't choose the smooth and fast routes.
I think that 8 may have been misplaced on a highpoint instead of the third rockface, and I lost about 30 seconds.
I was on line for 10, but stopped short when I lost confidence when the rocks appeared bigger than I expected. I should have just carried on. Instead I lost a minute. Good running between 10 and 12 pulled back all of my lost time to Blair.
At 12 I climbed the spur 30m too early and ended in a parallel gully, losing another minute. This time I could not recover the losses and finished just 31 seconds behind Blair at the end.

My right hamstring was noticeable on any climbs and the ball of my right foot was also sore.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [1] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

Running 55:00 [2] 11.0 km (5:00 / km)

A lap and a half of the tan.
I felt fresh and springy and looking forward to the weekend.

During the afternoon I did notice a bit of tightness in my hamstrings though. I've also been dealing with a sore right ball of my foot for a couple of weeks now, but it does not seem to be getting any worse.

Running long 1:20:00 [2] 15.5 km (5:10 / km)

Mike's Meander
Felt flat and ordinary for most of the run today. This may be due to getting up a couple of time during the night to see if the Aussies had taken any more wickets in the West Indies.

Running hills 45:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:00 / km)

MFR Monday night run from the Key's home.
A good turn up, and a harder session through the Kew hills circuit.

Many club members seem to be about to head overseas in the next couple of weeks.

Running long 1:40:00 [2] 20.2 km (4:57 / km)

Long run in the fog along the Yarra upstream to Eaglemont Flats. A nice stretch through the La Trobe golf club. Normally I wouldn't run through the private course, but there was so much fog that no golfers could see me.
