Running 41:00 [2] 8.0 km (5:08 / km)
(sick)

An attempt at a comeback. The aim was for a short easy run.
Easy pace, but it was definately my best run of the year! Feeling quite good, with no discomfort.
I might step it up a little more next time.

Good news. I successfully completed the "bolt for the train" * this morning without being short of breath or coughing my guts up!

* this event involves walking out the door and hearing the ding-dongs of the boom gates, then making the 250m bolt, validating my ticket and jumping on board the train in under 60 seconds before the train leaves. When fit it is usually a piece of cake. However when wearing a suit and work shoes, and carrying a laptop computer, the degree of difficulty increases somewhat.
I've seen women in heels try it, but they usually end up watching the train from the platform as it drives off.

Now that I am offically an M35 I've retired and turned into a coach. The score so far this year is:
Anne's training sessions = 7
Bruce's training sessions = 1
Mason's training = 3 laps of the block cycling
Torren's training = 4 laps of the block cycling
Sophie's training = 2 circuits of the driveway on her trike

This is the best indication that I can get on recovery timeframe for running after pneumonia.

I'm feeling a little better now that my illness has been properly diagnosed.
After getting some chest x-rays, I have been diagnosed with pneumonia! The x-rays showed a small consolidation in my right lung. It's not too bad, but it certainly explains why I haven't been able to shake off my cough for the last six weeks, or do any sort of useful training.
It also explains why I wasn't able to put in a better performance at the xmas 5 days.

I've resigned myself to resting until the new stronger antibiotics take effect, and then try to get the all clear with another x-ray before resuming.
