Running tempo 20:00 [4] 5.4 km (3:42 / km)

2 hard tempo runs along the Yarra.
First one from the Ivanhoe Blvd playground to the Burke Rd footbridge.
2.2km 7:56
Second from the bike path between the Eastern Fwy and Kew GC to Chandler Hwy.
3.2km 12:09

Running 48:00 [2] 7.4 km (6:29 / km)

Warm up and warm down.
Warm conditions at 7am, but nothing like what was to come.
It turned out to be Melbourne's hottest day on record. I recorded 46.1 degrees at around 4pm on my indoor-outdoor thermometer at home (which seemed to correspond to most other official readings).

We spent most of the morning at Doncaster shopping, and then sheltered at home for the rest of the day.

Running 55:00 [3] 11.8 km (4:40 / km)

Moderately paced run around from the Tan, to MCG, then 2.5 laps of Fitzroy Gardens.

Running intervals 30:00 [4] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

Olympic Park track
3x 800m, 400m, 200m with 200m jog in between
Felt good on the 800s, but had no speed for the shorter ones.

Great to get onto a real track. Pity that the stands were empty though.

Running 40:00 [2] 7.0 km (5:43 / km)

Warm up and down including the mandatory stop at the Powerade promo girls at the bottom of Anderson St. This was my fourth free bottle this week. I hope that their marketing budget continues at this level.

Running long 1:24:00 [3] 15.5 km (5:25 / km)

Mike's Meander in reverse.
Groin felt ok when running and was no problem. I'll just watch it once I cool down.
A warm sunny day, but much more comfortable than last week. The Powerade on Anderson St was a welcome refreshment.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Pulled up with a sore left groin around the pubic bone after yesterday's session.
A bit disappointing as I wanted to do a 4km time trial today, but If I ran I would only make it worse. I hoping that a rest day or 2 will fix it.

Monday Feb 2, 2009 #

Running 1:14:00 [2] 14.0 km (5:17 / km)

Reverse Fawkner Park. Big turn up today - around 19 in the group. Probably because it was the first lunchtime in a while that was sub 35 degrees.
Quite a solid pace, but I felt good by the second half.
Tried out my new Nike Zoom Elite shoes. They certainly had a bit more spring in them than my old pair.
Picked up a free Powerade at the tan, and then got another one on my second lap to take back to work.

Note

Another school year.
Mason started Grade 1 today, and seemed to settle in just like any other day at School.
The even years will be the big occasions with Torren starting Prep next year, and Sophie starting in 2012.

Sunday Feb 1, 2009 #

Running long 1:26:00 [2] 17.0 km (5:04 / km)

Long run from the Fairfield Boathouse with Blair, Hanny, Kerrin and Jasmine. Hanny pushed the pace on the tracks a bit quicker than usual, but she slowed down a little when I told her about some of the strange men that loiter around Puujabba Spur.
I felt good for most of the run, but this was long enough considering I had 75 minutes of Milo Cricket coming up afterwards.
