Orienteering race 43:18 [5] ***** 6.4 km (6:46 / km)

Victorian Middle Distance Champs - Korong Spur
(Have you noticed the map title artwork? How did Neil know that it was going to rain?)

Great fun. Technical course on a difficult area with rain and heavy fog.
2nd place, but as good as I could have hoped for. I hadn't run for 3 weeks, and as soon as pushed hard, I felt some groin soreness, so I couldn't go 100%.
Good run until 15. I looked in the centre of the circle on some rocks, but the control was not there (see Route Gadget GPS). I had to climb some more contours to find the control. It is possible that it may be on the correct rocks, but I think it was probably 2 contours too high, and 40-50m too far south.
17 was certainly wrong. It is marked on flat ground, but was a couple of contours up. This was easy to find, but it did cause me trouble on the next control as I was 2 contours too high all of the way, probably costing me a minute on 18. 19 was sloppy, probably due to losing confidence on the previous couple.
After 20 I ran well and towed a few others around the difficult last part.

Cycling 50:00 [3] 10.0 km (12.0 kph)

Spin class at the gym. A full class today.
I went about 80% as I still had some groin soreness from Saturday.

One lady was taking it very seriously. She got in early with her spanner and changed the exercise bike pedals over to her clip ins for her cycling shoes.
Then during the warm up she had an incident - she had forgotten to tighten up the pedal and it had come out, with her upside down on the floor and one leg still in the other pedal. It looked rather nasty, but it was also quite amusing.
I thought cycling was only dangerous outdoors, but obviously it is dangerous indoors too.
