Running 1:00:00 [2] 10.5 km (5:43 / km)

Easy run throught the golf course to Studley Park, and back along Merri Creek.
This was followed by the last session of Auskick for the year. The worst of the rain came through right at the end. Usually this would have meant a bolt for the car, but as there was a medal presentation, we had to wait out in the middle of the oval in the rain for certificates and medals.

The afternoon was spent at Docklands watching the crows crush Carlton to confirm 5th spot. Brett Burton's high flying mark was definately the best I have ever witnessed. I saw a few gems from Modra in the early 90s, but this was superior. It looked even better live than it does on the TV. He leaped up early on the shoulders of 2 ruckman (Tippett and Kruzer), and then rose even higher to take the mark high on his chest.
Toyota should just give him the car now.

Running tempo 29:00 [4] 7.62 km (3:48 / km)

MMM Winter Romp
2 laps of the tan in reverse with no watch, but you had to nominate your predicted time. The closet prediction was the winner.
My predicted time was 30:30, but I ended up running 14:20, and 14:40 laps. I tired a bit on the second lap as expected due to yesterday's tough session, but I accounted for that in my strategy. My pace was just a bit fast.
Still it feels better to be faster than predicted rather than slower.

Running intervals 24:00 [4] 6.0 km (4:00 / km)

Pyralek session on the grass at Gosh's Paddock
1min, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2, 1 with half the recovery.
I ran well on the ons, but suffered a bit on the offs, so I cut some corners to keep up with Slips and Mitho.

Running 50:00 [3] 10.0 km (5:00 / km)

Lap and a half of the tan.
I debated about going out after still feeling soreness in the lower abdomen. However some stretches at my desk loosened them up and I was right to go.
My legs felt very fresh on the run, and I could move without pain or restriction, and I was able to complete the session ok.
I'll try to step it up in intensity tomorrow.

Running 20:00 [1] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)

I was able to jog, but not really stretch out. The main purpose was to try to loosen up and get rid of the stiffness.

Sore groin from yesterday.
A trundle around Carlton Gardens but mostly stretching and massaging.

Orienteering race 1:20:22 [5] *** 13.43 km (5:59 / km)
spiked:20/20c

State League #7, Butterfly Jim, Long Distance
3rd place, 3 mins behind Bryan, 2 behind Evan

No mistakes, but a pretty simple course with little route choice.
My GPS route is on the RouteGadget page.

I woke up with some tightness in my left groin, possibly due to having a rest day on Saturday. I did an extra long warm up, but it was still uncomfortable when running. It probably prevented me from stretching out in places. I was running ok at about 5m/km pace, but anything faster was a bit sore. About half way round my lower abdomen was sore with a stitch type feeling. By 2/3 distance, it settled down, and I was able to finish off the course well, with similar splits to Bryan.

After another longish warmdown it was good in the afternoon and evening. However it became sore again at around 4am, and I had trouble getting back to sleep thereafter.
