NOL Race 1 - Chewton Diggings
Long Distance Hagaby
10th place. Good solid run with lots of loops and many competitors around. I managed to hold off a group including Rattray, Parton and Lebbink for most of the last 5 kms.
A great event arena with spectators able to see competitors 7 times during the race.

Running 57:50 intensity: (9:52 @1) + (12:58 @2) + (21:17 @3) + (12:44 @4) + (59 @5) 10.92 km (5:18 / km)
ahr:138 max:171

Mona Fartlek at 75%, Tan Track
A warm day and a hard session for most, but I ran with the slower runners at the back. It turned out to be a good sharpener for me, without expending too much effort before the weekend.

Orienteering warm up/down 20:00 [1] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)

7 PM

Orienteering tempo 31:45 [4] 7.66 km (4:09 / km)

Street Orienteering at Scotch College
A complex course with 3 maps, which was quite intereting, and a different challenge from the usual Heyington Heights map. The sprint orienteering course was very basic though, and required no more navigational skills than the usual street o.
I got a gap on Schepisi half way through the first map, and was never seriously challenged after that.
Winning margin was about 2 minutes, but I also had the shortest GPS route - which was pleasing, showing that I had speed and the best route choice.

Running 58:58 intensity: (14:24 @1) + (16:13 @2) + (7:06 @3) + (12:21 @4) + (8:54 @5) 12.5 km (4:43 / km)

400m on, 400m tempo x 8
Olympic Park
I watched the Midday Milers 4x400m relay, then ran a 6.4km session on the track. The pace was solid with ons about 80s and offs about 90s.
I was a bit tired this morning, after a restless night, and the run took a while to get into today.

Monday Mar 1, 2010 #

7 PM

Running 45:46 [2] 9.5 km (4:49 / km)

MFR recovery run from Kerrin's house.
Merri Creek down to Dight's Falls, then back to Fairfield Boathouse and Oldis Gardens.
I was feeling flat in the middle, but better towards the end.

Orienteering tempo 39:46 [4] 7.32 km (5:26 / km)

Terrain Trial
Melbourne Forest Loop
Not my fastest, but ok given the long grass, slippery hills and fallen trees on the course.

There seems to be a bit of a battle going on in the area between Parks Victoria and MTB'ers since the new fences and gates were put in over summer. By my judging the current score since the war started is
Parks Vic 1 (extra fence)
MTB'ers 5 (4 heavy steel gates removed, and 1 fence cut down)

The extra fence is very annoying as it has forced a detour in my terrain trial loop. However the cut down fence now allows me to remove another detour that I had to invent last time.

Running warm up/down 18:00 [2] 3.0 km (6:00 / km)
