It was a novelty event, so no point scores this week. That seemed a waste, since next week is point scoring but is in Lillydale, so I am unlikely to get there.
The novelty was a Treasure Hunt style score course. 4 controls were missing from the map, and you only discovered the control location at other controls.
Orienteering should never be a treasure hunt, and this course involved a lot of luck. I lost interest half way around and then jogged for a while. From the 2nd last control I found myself 30m behind the lead, so I put in a big effort over the last km and got home in front. I was still behind entering the last control, but I left the control in front and was not challenged seriously on the run in.
