Orienteering warm up/down 1:00:00 [1] 10.0 km (6:00 / km)

9 AM

Orienteering race 37:11 [5] 7.47 km (4:59 / km) +133m 4:34 / km

NOL #1 Middle Distance
Bruce Ridge and AIS

I made quite a mess of the bush section on Bruce Ridge, particularly controls 11 and 13, and a number of small hesitations on many others. It felt like I had lost about 4 to 5 minutes in total.
However, Rob Preston had only caught 2 minutes and I ran strongly ahead of him through the campus section to finish in 6th place. A good placing, but still quite a poor run.
1 PM

Orienteering race 12:47 [5] 3.11 km (4:07 / km) +18m 4:00 / km

NOL #2 AIS
Mixed Relay
Kathryn Ewels was about 5 minutes down after the first 3km leg, so there was not much hope of a good placing unless we had 3 perfect legs. I ran quite well, losing only about 5 seconds. The legs were quite different so it is hard to tell how my run would have placed.

Orienteering race 14:27 [5] 3.24 km (4:28 / km) +18m 4:21 / km

Started the 4th leg in about 20th, and ended about 13th.
Not a bad run, but again not much to run for.

Easy lap of the tan. I was feeling very tired, so I'll take it easy until Saturday's races.

After feeling quite tired for the last 2 runs, this one felt very comfortable.

Park/Street orienteering @ Heyington Heights
It was quite a challenging course tonight, with several macro route choice options with some long runs between sets of controls.
Blair thought that he had a good route with 9.0km, but I still managed to find a shorter way 8.9km.
I wasn't as fast as usual tonight, being a little tired after a long lunchtime run.

Orienteering race 14:04 [5] 3.37 km (4:10 / km) +29m 4:00 / km

Victorian Championships Sprint Distance.
1st place. A very clean run, losing only around 5 seconds on 11, after coming from sunshine into shade, not spotting the flag and having to stand still for a few seconds to find it.
The highlight was running through a couple of passage ways in the university, and I seemed to get the route choices correct each time.
Some sections of the course were quite easy and I was able to use my current fitness to my advantage.
