Running tempo 1:08:00 intensity: (8:00 @2) + (1:00:00 @4) 16.51 km (4:07 / km) +208m 3:52 / km

I wanted a quality session so I ran tempo on the Boulevard without the Studley Park loops. I was aiming for 15km in 1hr. This was solid but ok except for a couple of the longer hills. I managed to achieve the 15kms with about 15 seconds to spare.

This weeks training has been a bit interrupted due to a combination of factors (work, orienteering admin, etc). I am not too stressed about this given that I have just finished a block of racing. Still was nice to get out for a run in the sunshine.

Darren Meeking and I just submitted a grant application to Victorian Major Events for the Oceania Champs in NE Victoria. This would allow us to implement some cool spectator facilities if successful. We'll now wait and see.

Orienteering race 17:54 [5] *** 3.73 km (4:48 / km) +84m 4:19 / km

SA Sprint Distance Orienteering Championships
Keithcott Farm, Adelaide
I continued my good sprint form with a win.
1 Bruce Arthur 17:54
2 Simon Uppill 18:24
3 Greg Morcom 23:41
A tricky and varied sprint course which included both steep hillsides and school campus terrain.
Splits
I had a good route choice to 2, going left on tracks where Simon went right and had to run through long grass.
Simon led by 9 seconds after the hilly section, but I had edged back ahead by 4 seconds after the school with some good route choices through the buildings.
I stretched the lead out over the last section across flat open ovals and paddocks.
It was nice to win another SA Championship - this one being the closest that I have ever raced to where I grew up in Adelaide.

This brings to an end a long racing season that started in March. Without much on the horizon now, I'll have to set some new goals.

Thanks to Robin Uppill for the photo.
