Running 1:11:57 [2] 10.51 km (6:51 / km) +44m 6:42 / km

Very slow Tour de Clifton Hill with the boys on bikes.
Essentially this was a series of approx 5 x 2km jogs, with a few minutes rest in between.
Stage 1 - Home to Melbourne Bicycle Centre via Edinburgh Gardens.
Rest 1 - brakes fixed, new bell for Mason, new bike gloves for Torren
Stage 2 - MBC to Bakers Delight, Clifton Hill
Rest 2 - Playground stop at Darling Gardens
Stage 3 - Darling Gardens to Quarries Park
Rest 3 - Playground stop at Quarries Park
Stage 4 - Quarries Park to Collingwood Athletics Track
Rest 4 - Track session for the boys. 100m, long jump, 200m
Stage 5 - Aths track to home

I was offered 1 adult and 1 child ticket for the Hawks v Crows game this afternoon. We spent much of the ride discussing which of the 2 boys most wanted to go to the football.
Initially they both wanted to go, even though I said it was almost certain that the Crows would lose. I then offered access to my iPad for whoever stayed home. This backfired, as they both then wanted to stay home.
Finally Mason decided that he would come. Torren watched on TV with Anne at home.
The game was fantastic. I didn't think that we could really win until we hit the lead in the last quarter, but unfortuately that only lasted 20 seconds. It was a deflating end after such a brave effort. I'm very proud of the team to finish 3rd after 14th last year. Hopefully there is more improvement to come, although that is no guarantee in this competition. That is the most disappointing part of a preliminary final loss - it takes 12 months of hard work to get back there and who knows what may happen over that period of time.

Friday Fitzroy Flogs
A nice easy run with Jim Berrington through Melbourne Park, Yarra Park and Fitztroy Gardens.
Although I was very conservative, my knee was very good.

I am very excited to see a new footbridge being built between the Melbourne Park Tennis Centre extensions and AAMI Park. This has the potential to create a brilliant Urban Sprint Orienteering area including AAMI Park, Melbourne Park and Yarra Park, including a number of elevated walkways and passages underneath.

My Catching Features technique is definately improving.
These online competitions were on an old map of the Finish WOC2013 areas. These included some big rock features. I missed a couple of controls in thick flat areas. Distance estimation is quite hard in this game when visibility is poor and there aren't many features around.

Running 24:01 [2] 4.44 km (5:25 / km) +66m 5:02 / km

Encouraging. Very easy, but no knee pain.
I just need to be conservative and take it easy until all of my running muscles around the knee get back to full strength.
10 minute jog down to the tan. A good stretching session on the grass. Then another jog back to work.

Catching Features 1:30:00 [0] *****

I actually made the top half of the results list in a Catching Features race!
This was a simulation of the NORT Middle World Cup from Norway a couple of weeks ago.
1 PM

Walk 17:40 [1] 1.43 km (12:23 / km)

Walk/jog in Carlton Gardens.
Jogged for about 4 x 2mins. I felt good, but I don't want to push my luck too much. I am working on Physio instructions of no more than 20% increase per day.

Orienteering 48:51 [1] 3.19 km (15:18 / km)

Shadowing Sophie, and acting as the sweeper for the other M/W 10 and 12s. The course was more difficult than usual with a creek and windy mtb track to follow.
This included the 1km climb up hill to the start.
