Bendigo Bush Classic #3
Mt Korong
Course 1

I wasn't very satisfied with my race.
I had good navigation to the circles, but lots of time loss inside the circles today.

90s on 4: I found many depressions and couldn't see the flag. It felt like it was beyond the middle of the circle and too far from my attack point.
90s on 10. I stood next to it without seeing it, then questioned myself and came back after double checking.
90s on 12. I ran down the length of the rockface and somehow missed it. I think the control placement may have been dodgy here.
90s on 13. Why was there a green forest at the foot of the rockface when it was supposed to be yellow? The control was hidden, and maybe even too close to the boulders.
30s on 14. I stood on top of the rockface, but didn't notice the flag at the foot. I also felt uneasy going straight from 13-14. The vegetation appears to have changed a fair bit on that hill side.

Vic Autumn Series #4
Eppalock South
Course 1

After a good start, I made a mess of control 8. Perhaps my biggest mistake this year. The bright side is if you have to make a mistake it is best to do it on a race that doesn't mean too much.
Will Davey had been sitting on me for a while, so I was a bit distracted. I exited 7 too far to the right. I tried to correct, but then pushed right again. I finished just outside the circle but saw the creek in front of me. The area was very flat, but steep on the other side of the creek. I guessed that I had gone too far, so ran NE at high speed. However, this was the wrong direction and I almost ran off the map. I realised that I must have been almost right the first time so ran back and found the control flag this time. Total loss was at least 4 minutes, which dropped me from 1st place to 5th place at that point of the course.
I made up a bit of ground in the remainder of the course, but only enough to take 3rd place.

Looking back at some of my old South Eppalock maps, I have often made a mistake on 1 control on this map. It is simple if you concentrate, but also very easy to have big time losses if you drift into a parallel gully and don't realise your mistake until too late.
