orienteering race (Gauteng long o Sabie) 1:05:21 [5] 8.3 km (7:52 / km) +290m 6:42 / km
(injured)

much better run then the middle.
I fumbled a bit en route to 3 going up the re-entrant. couldnt find a comfortable path up.
I overshot 5 by a fair bit, expecting it to be later - but the control was visible once i was 20m below the road, so only wasted about 10s.
6 I should have gone up past 3, but i tried to go up the spur, which was tough going, and i ended up dropping ito the gully past 3 anyway.
8-9 route choice was interesting. I went left, but i think right would have been better - not crossing the nav line, and easier nav into the circle.
9-10 seemed to go well, but I was uncertain about where to cross the green. I came across the control earlier then I was expecting, like it was too high on the slope, or i went further down the path then I had intended to.
10-11 I took a chance that I would be able to run through the green, which paid off, I thought I had a quick run, but garry took 10 seconds on my, it must have been the hesitation in making the decision about which way to go.
11-12 I went straight, I was a bit far right when I hit the road, so ran a bit too far.
12-13 lost 25 seconds to garry, I went straight for the path junction, but ended up low in the green. also limited in running speed on the road by my sore ankle. I opted to stay low on the road rather then cut up past the water point, which I know paul did.
uphill to 14 was a slog. I went past the water point, stayed on the road til the clearing then cut across, coutouring till the path junction. I stayed on the path till just before the bend and cut up to the boulder. lost almost 30 seconds to paul.
15 I could see from a while away - straight was quickest.
16 - tigerlined it
17 - also went straight, not sure which way paul went, but he was 20 seconds faster. I was slow up the road and going to the control in the rough.
18- started going straight, then realised the road bend was the attackpoint, so just went to it.
19 - blame slow running on the ankle - lost 20 seconds to paul and Garry.
20 - overshot the control n the right, back along the road to the right place. not sure why... pushed hard on the uphill with the mantra - Paul would run this!
21, straight down the hill. Running on the pine needles was less sore then the hard road.
22 - chased down Nick who was in front of me on a different course.
