run (otter trail) 5:29:08 [3] 42.0 km (7:50 / km) +2700m 5:56 / km
shoes: black hitec inf lite

not too sure of the heart rate details. my watch reset at the first hut - which was problematic for my pacing for the rest of the race, not knowing how ling I had been racing for.
Started off way too fast with the first bunch of 16 - kept with them for the first technical 5 km's to the first hut. then the trail headed uphill and i watched the front groups disappear into the trees. It was magic running along on the trail.
Stopped at 45mins to strap a hot spot on my right foot. seemed to work well, only a small blood blister, but I suspect the callous on the ball of my foot is hiding the real damage. I nursed the blisters to the end especially on the downhills.
I pushed the prologue a bit hard on the downhills and jarred my right knee so also had to nurse that on the downhills. Was frustrating not to be able to go as fast as I knew I could.
ran conservatively so that I would have something left for the last 9km which are apparently much more runnable.
my 1 previous marathon taught me that the last 10km are the hardest and I didnt want to break my body and have to walk the last section.
it worked and I caught the 2 the people that passed me at half way in the the last 9km.
ran hard to finish just under 5 1/2 hrs. really thrilled with that result.

run (otter prologue) 18:26 [3] 3.8 km (4:51 / km) +155m 4:02 / km
ahr:183 max:196 shoes: black hitec inf lite

ran hard to make the starting bunch for the otter the next day.
beat Ryan Sands by a solid 13 seconds...
took a wrong turn and missed a path, as well as taking too long on the rocks instead of hitting the path next to the beach. but a good result none the less.

run (trail) 36:20 [3] 4.3 km (8:27 / km) +155m 7:10 / km
shoes: black hitec inf lite

jogged the prologue for the otter trail as a test - got a bit lost when we missed the trail off the beach. nice to be out -the tide was up high and cut us off so we had to go back and then we found the correct trail.

Event: Long O

9 AM

orienteering race (long o) 1:24:22 [3] 11.7 km (7:13 / km) +400m 6:09 / km
shoes: xa pro3d ultra black

Ran hard. Caught Alex at 2 and got to 6 ahead of him, bbut mistook it for 22. Only realised 5 mins and 3 visits later that it was mine. Number 10 was in the wrong place do lost another couple mins there. 1 min each at 11 and 12. Ok run, even if a bit short. I just don't run fast enough.
