Running 25:10 [3] 3.02 mi (8:20 / mi)
Again, it was short, but it was something. Route took me around Mirror Lake.
Trail Running 38:00 [4] 2.5 mi (15:12 / mi)
The plan was to get as far up Haystack Mtn (not the 4000' one, but a smaller version between Placid and Saranac) as possible before dark. The added factor was that upon checking the radar right before leaving I noticed I would also be racing against a line of strong t-storms that was headed this way. Well it turns out that I lost. About 2 miles in I realized that the light would be problematic if I went the full 3.3 miles, so I set a turnaround time of about 1 hour - but 40 minutes in the thunder started and I wasn't interested in being on any exposed rocks during a storm.
I was not strictly running the entire time but upped the pace when the slope and trail conditions allowed.
Hiking 45:00 [2] 2.5 mi (18:00 / mi)
So, I turned around, and it immediately let loose with the rain. I was somewhat prepared with a jacket, but unfortunately I wore my glasses and after 2 minutes was completely blind. So I took them off, and picked my way back to the car, pretty much soaked to the bone by the time I got back.
And there was plenty of light available by the time I got back.
