Trail Run 13:00 [1] 1.25 mi (10:24 / mi)
ahr:122

warmup

Orienteering 55:50 [4] 4.22 mi (13:14 / mi)
ahr:164 max:182

Red course at White Ranch, 6km straight line. It was a good course, but a silly dog leg at 5, and the pit at 13 and just east of 13 should not be mapped. The stream just north of 12 should have an earthen bank symbol along it showing that it largely uncrossable in sections. North of 11 is a spring with a trough that isn't mapped, 12 was hung too low in the re-entrant. Ran pretty well. I was slow to 1 with trying to get keyed into the map, had a bit of trouble following details around 7, and somehow got pushed really low going to 8, and got suckered in to the wrong control going to the finish. A number of controls could have been made much harder by placing the control in less visible areas around the control. But over all a very good course in a very challenging area. Managed effort well as there's so much vertical.

Cyclo-X 1:26:00 [1] 16.74 mi (5:08 / mi)
ahr:114

Wanted to go for 2 hours today, and had a good plan to do it, but it didn't work out. Parked at Redbarn, took Sheeps Draw to the end, then rode around the neighborhood beyond the end, the wind was strong everywhere, but absolutely fierce in the new development out there as there was just fields surrounding it. In to the wind I could barely stay up and needed to ride in 2nd or 3rd gear, plus spit out the sand. Found an extension to Sheeps Draw, hopefully they will connect them soon. Then went over to the FunPlex, they removed all the mt. bike obstacles and the mt. bike trail could not even be seen. The BMX area was totally removed too. Had a whole bunch of thorns in the tires and I stopped to pull them out, of course one was on the side and avoided the tire liner, it was the back and I still wanted to ride the new Fire Fly trail. It was literally put in today and I was the first to ride it (only shoe prints of the workers were along it). I also rode the new 16th street addition, I was unsure if it was actually open or the wind blew down the fence, likely the first person to ride that too. By the time I start to head back the back tire was pretty much flat and had to ride on the hoods to make sure all the weight was on the front tire. I need to remember that no matter how much I need a change of pace or want to check out the FunPlex that I should just not do it, I've gotten too many flats, even with the tire liners.

Trail Run 48:00 [1] 4.72 mi (10:10 / mi)
ahr:129

Warmupcooldown.

Trail Run 24:00 [4] 4.11 mi (5:50 / mi)
ahr:172 max:184

Running club. 4x6min with 3 min rest, running up the "switch backs." Ran well, I think faster than last time. Paces were 5:58, 55, 51, 44, very fast on the last one. HRM didn't work well, I think in the cold weather my body doesn't send enough blood to my hands so it doesn't work well.
