took the tandem out for a spin w/ e!

created a new activity since it didn't seem fair to call it "Biking". i think the person in back (me) does less work. really enjoyable as being able to talk to each other is really easy!

felt good once we got going - our goal was to go to the waterfront but we kept going and ended up in sodo. :)

found out this morning that our motivate-ourselves-to-be-in-better-shape-for-WRC race, Meet the Minotaur, is getting postponed to next year. this race was scheduled for june 27th of this year. :(

hike down to what is becoming our usual beach spot at disco. for a change of pace/longer walk, started from north parking lot. lots of big groups out not socially distanced... i guess it is the first friday evening since bars/restaurants closed in WA state...

pretty easy to keep *our* distance from others - also saw lots of small groups of kids out playing in the woods on the way down to the bluff! also numerous cases of my pet peeve - off-leash dogs. grrr... as e notes, it is really a PET peeve of mine. ;)

leisurely hike back at sunset and afterwards - e periscoped the beach portion of the walk back so others could appreciate mount rainier out in full glory and the beautiful shifting colors of sunset. turned the corner at the lighthouse and it got super windy! put our heads down at that point and picked up the pace to get back up. getting pretty dim as we arrived back at the parking lot.

super twisty and meandering run at disco. tried to find most abandoned trails possible, kept turning around to avoid oncoming people, found lots of little side trails i had no idea existed. pretty fun actually!

headed down bluff to meet up w/ e afterwards for post-run relaxing and treats :)

spent the morning cancelling/inquiring about rescheduling all the upcoming COC orienteering event permits, getting refund process/paperwork in motion, etc. a bit of a bummer - some of these upcoming events have been a huge amount of work from the permitting side (and a lot of other sides for other people in the club!). but also a bit of a relief as it has been becoming more and more clear it wouldn't be possible to hold these events in a safe way for both our participants and the greater community.

headed out to the mountains in the afternoon for a short, leisurely nordic ski. warm conditions and a lot of surfaces were icy - we decided to stay super flat as we didn't want to risk getting injured and needing medical care at a time when putting any unnecessary additional strain on our healthcare system feels irresponsible. gradually getting used to a new normal?

it was wonderful to be out in the woods and fresh air! i feel very lucky to have access to it and hope others are also finding ways to have positive outlets during these trying times.

evening/sunset walk at disco - watched sun set behind olympics from beach. pretty cool to have been up in the mountains and down at the beach in the same day. super low tide! avoided other groups by heading off into the bushes as we approached one another. good thing for all the off-trail orienteering practice! :P
