Orienteering race (6km 8.48min/km 150m climb) 50:57 [4] 5.1 km (9:59 / km) +170m 8:34 / km

Season's first race in New England for me (other than the Winter series which was snow running), in Ansonia organized by WCOC/Niels Lyng-Olsen.

Wonderful running, open and dry (surprisingly) terrain. My running speed was ok, but definitely need to improve 10-15% this year to be able to compete better in M45!

Pretty good navigation, veered 75m E on 4 (30s); slightly off on 6 (10s); searched for 20-30s on 10, the cliff seemed much too close to the corner of the fence (possible map error - control was placed correctly); and 90s on 12 as I went 50m too far N, then guessed wrong and headed further N before going down to the path to relocate.
Overall pretty pleased, navigation was technical but much helped by the open terrain.

Terrific and fun. Of course Sergey and Greg beat me by 10-15%, but on running speed only, think I made less mistakes than them.

Also ran Brown as an "extra." No mistakes, but slower running as I didn't take it seriously/didn't get into it until about #4 or so, e.g. was really lazy and stayed on the path to #1. Finished in 25:41 on a 2.5km course sharing some of the same controls as Red but from different directions, my time was all down to lazy and slow running in the beginning:

Treadmill 23:04 [3] 5.0 km (4:37 / km)

Also did 6 minutes of interval-hill training on the treadmill, partly at 80-90% effort.
And some upper body.
