slept:8.0 weight:122lbs shoes: Hoka Challenger (2019)

Walked to & from downtown Louisville for a croissant from Moxie and an iced hazelnut-cream latté from Ziggi's. Then I found a nice shady bench to sit & enjoy them.

Run / Hike 1:01:32 [3] 3.08 mi (19:59 / mi) +86ft 19:28 / mi
slept:8.0 shoes: Hoka Challenger (2019)

An easy walk to & from the post office and Safeway. My feet, ankles, and knees are achy but not injury-level painful, so this was a pleasant outing -- I think sitting around all day would've made impending soreness even worse.

Someone from the LoCO FIT group organized a Little Free Library scavenger hunt for today, so I snagged a few photos along the way during my walk. (The winner found 25 libraries in 11 miles -- wow.)

Run / Hike 1:06:02 [3] 5.24 mi (12:36 / mi) +220ft 12:07 / mi
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2020)

Yeti Challenge, lap #2.

Still pleasant -- 60°F. The moon isn't full, but it looked huge as it was setting over the Flatirons.

I normally feel totally fine running at night, but thinking about this notice had kinda creeped me out while I was running my earlier lap around Davidson Mesa. So, this time, I did three laps around Harper Lake instead (there are houses all the way around the lake, so it feels a lot less isolated).

Delicious PB-honey toast when I finished. :-)

6 AM

Run / Hike 1:01:43 [3] 5.2 mi (11:52 / mi) +171ft 11:31 / mi
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2020)

Yeti Challenge, lap #3.

I headed east this time -- out and back through Daughenbaugh to Dutch Creek to Coal Creek. (My original plan of doing the same loop all six times is already out the window...)

It's supposed to be 80°F today -- and it was already sunny and warm at 6am.

Had some cinnamon-oat pancakes when I finished.

Views on the return trip.

10 AM

Run / Hike 1:04:42 [3] 5.26 mi (12:18 / mi) +237ft 11:48 / mi
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2020)

Yeti Challenge, lap #4.

East again, with a slightly different route on the Coal Creek trail (south towards the golf course).

Afterwards, mini-naan with smoked salmon and a scrambled egg.

Looking southwest along the trail.

2 PM

Run / Hike 1:08:59 [3] 5.39 mi (12:48 / mi) +373ft 12:01 / mi
weight:117.4lbs shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2020)

Yeti Challenge, lap #5. Woo -- getting close to completion!

I decided to try a new trail, so I headed north. It was OK (went past the water treatment plant and along a concrete ditch) -- but not something I would ever seek out again. Also, I inadvertently had to run an extra two-tenths of a mile to get home. DOH!

Thankfully there was good cloud cover the whole time. I walked most of the uphills.

Post-run snack: smoothie with chocolate protein powder, peanut butter powder, frozen banana, and greek yogurt.

6 PM

Run / Hike 57:09 [3] 5.02 mi (11:23 / mi) +224ft 10:55 / mi
shoes: Hoka Challenger (2019)

Yeti Challenge, lap #6 of 6. Woohoo!!!

I developed a big blood-blister on the ball of my foot during run #5, and it hurt a ton during the first mile of this (even though I had drained it to relieve the pressure and changed shoes; is that proper blister protocol? fortunately I don't get them too often). Then after a mile or so, I didn't notice it anymore.

Whew -- very happy to have this over with! Now I'm about to enjoy a greasy Red Robin BBQ & cheddar Impossible burger with steak fries. :-D

Yeti Challenge, lap #1!

A perfect night -- warm enough for short sleeves.

I stopped for (pointless) photos a few times, so actual moving time was 59:39, and that included walking the uphill parts of the first mile.

Route was as planned: up to Davidson Mesa, one lap around the outer loop, and then back home.

LoCO FIT workout (solo) at Davidson Mesa.

- Ran ~one mile to warm up.

- Four-mile tempo run -- 9:01, 8:51, 8:36, 8:37. Heard (and then spotted) a coyote howling on the west side of the mesa.

- Walked & ran ~one mile to cool down.

Pleasant temps and no wind!
