Alpine Skiing 1:30:00 [3]

Easy with the bairns on 9. Upper back's a tad sore from the wipeout yesterday.

Alpine Skiing 4:00:00 [3]

I think I love my new job (although I don't even know if it's basic wage yet). Prepping pancakes for breakie and I got the text all employees want from their bosses "no work's a powder day. Never forget why we live here!"
So, I dumped the bairns at school. Printed off some UK tax stuff. Booked out some gear for Avalanche School and hit the POW. All lift 9 and 7. Immense day. Did a 5ft somersault into a tree just off Joint Point. Back took all the impact. Snow was so deep it took 10mins to find my ski.
Hit the beer at the end of the day when I found out that I'm working at Pandora Mine on Monday. I'm a bit partial to some geology so this was a near on perfect day.

Easy after first day of gainful employment in Telluride. Trying to fathom out how this training thing's going to work.

Alpine Skiing 4:00:00 [3]

Pretty easy today. Lift was shut due to high wind. Met up with Nicole, an old player from Houston Christian. Half of UT is here at the moment. Gorronos was packed when I went past. Planned to Nordic, but had a beer with Nicole at the end of the day.
Followed Newcastle v Rochdale on the chair.....a satisfactory result.
Also read the medals thread. Grrrrrr I just don't get people. Jordon makes a good point. Make it meaningful. Get a local artist to make mugs or coasters or something cool. And if you're having a National Champs make sure the Champs get the awards. My kids were pissed after that BAOC debacle. Needless to say. This year it's NAOC and that's it for orienteering (Niels convinced me. I hope he's right and not another shambles.) The event, just for my entry, has cost me more than the World Masters entry and the flights for the whole family from the UK to Latvia. I'm pretty over US orienteering. But I know I shouldn't be. When it's good, it's awesome. Rant over.

Alpine Skiing 3:30:00 [3]

Checked the weather. Perfect.
Went out hardcore all over the mountain. Could be the best day yet. Skis are wrecked.
4 PM

Running 38:59 [3] 7.43 km (5:15 / km) +53m 5:04 / km
ahr:158 max:182

Easy from Gymnastics. Out and back on valley floor. Feeling great, although that's something to do with zero volume. Watch says detraining......Understatement.
