Orienteering race 18:11 [5]
shoes: New Balance Vazee Summitt Trai

DVOA Summer Sprint Series - Hibernia

Rebekah and Noah joined me. The plan was for me to do the short course first, then do that same course with Noah, then do the long course. I goofed and did the longer first, but Noah was still enjoying the playground so I just did the other course before heading out with him.

Turns out that I won both of the sprints - by about a minute and a half each.

Sprint 2 went alright. I moved quickly but had an issue with 9, as I came out too far north and took the wrong trail only to backtrack, cut a corner, miss my cutoff, and have to backtrack to the CP again. Probably at least a minute lost in that nonsense. I had a small bobble on 17, where I followed a trodden path in that grass that seemed correct, only to realize that I was a little bit below the CP and had to backtrack. Outside of those two nitpicky errors, it was a good start.

Didn't start my watch right on time, but this was my best watch work of the day...

Orienteering race 12:46 [5] 2.0 mi (6:23 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Vazee Summitt Trai

Sprint 1 - forgot to start my watch at the beginning; really need to find an effective way to fix that problem.

This sprint was probably cleaner than the first. Had a little confusion after 2, but when I stopped to read the map I realized that I had already moved in the correct direction. I chose to bushwhack out from 4 towards 5, and I think I hit it perfectly; I moved quickly and came out right before the junction near the CP. I had some pretty good like left in my legs, so I was able to travel uphill from 10 to 11 well and finished quickly.

Hike/Trekking 45:13 [1] 2.0 mi (22:36 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Vazee Summitt Trai

Even hiking the sprint 1 course with Rebekah and Noah, I forgot to start my watch. Noah really wanted to run, and he did a great job running most of the way to 1 and 2. By the time we got to 3, he was asking to be carried. By the time we got to 5, he was checked out. He started asking to go home around 7. He got the epunch in the hole all by himself for all of them, and he really had a fun time despite being exhausted from skipping nap at daycare again.
