Day 2 Heptathlon:

LJ: legs felt heavy and runup ended up being very lopey, took it back around a metre in the warm up. Then just slow coming in and not reacting off the board, did 4.83 on 1st jump and couldnt better it on the 2nd. Then brought runup back in by 1 step on the third and dug in more at the start, but nowhere near the board, although it would have been a better jump. Really disappointed with the LJ as it was the one event I had expected to pick up a lot more points in, and its the first time in ages I haven't gone over 5m.

Jav: confident as spent a lot of time practising the week before with a tennis ball. First throw, 7 strides, 26.11 (PB) and then two 25-somethings off full run. Need to learn to convert full run up. But still very pleased.

running race 2:43 [5] 0.8 km (3:24 / km)

Last event - all down to the 800. Lying in 3rd in BUCS and had a 24s cushion on the girl behind. Knew I would have to run well but a 2.50 would probably do. Sat in behind the last placed girl for the first lap, but went through in 79s - by far my fastest ever first lap. Then passed her on the 2nd, tried to keep strong and was gaining on the back of the pack. Ran 2:43.79, massive PB, and Jennifer did 2.34 so comfortably within that 24s.

BUCS Bronze, and a big overall pb (6/7 events were hep bests) - 3699. Definitely room for improvement next year though.

BUCS Hep & NW Combined Events:

100H - severely compromised by not being able to do a sprint start due to wrist. Standing start much harder than I thought! Clipped hurdle 5 and lost balance, fighting to keep stride after that. 17.27, not too bad, all things considered, but still significantly down on what I've been running this season.

HJ - felt really good, run up was right for the first time in a long time.
1.46 o 1.49 o 1.52 o 1.55 xxx
Disappointed because the 1.52 clearance was easy. But clipped 55 with heels first attempt, clipped again second attempt and panicked third attempt - not even close. Annoyed cos I felt I was jumping better than that today. Still, its better than recent weeks.

SP - first round only 7.57, 2nd slipped out of my hand and out of the sector. Knew I had to pull it together on the third and somehow pulled out a 9.08 - seasons best.

200 - did tripod start, although holding weight using mostly legs took the edge out and they were tired by the time the gun went! ran 28.75, although I thought it felt faster - slightly disappointed.

Day 4 - Tentsmuir

Jogged round and made one small mistake. Not pushing the running at all and splitsbrowser shows it - straight line graph. Didn't want to kill my legs but felt comfortable throughout and the time wasn't too far down on the top girls.

orienteering 16:53 [3] 3.05 km (5:32 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 12

Sprint race at Scottish - very boring, just one tree to the next with big elephant tracks - next to no actual orienteering involved.

orienteering 58:33 [4] 5.53 km (10:36 / km) +210m 8:54 / km
shoes: Olway Tiger

Was in 2nd at control 4, then messed up 5 and completely screwed up 6 by about 4 mins, spent wandering around in circles within 50m of the control. Knew I'd blown it, picked up a bit but really tired towards the end of the course, came in about 5 min down on the pack. Still gives me confidence that fitness-wise, I'm as good as I've ever been, and certainly faster.

orienteering race 1:02:46 [3] 4.43 km (14:11 / km) +215m 11:25 / km
shoes: Olway Tiger

Day 1 Scottish - Dalruzion. Navigation messy, out of practice and paying more attention to not falling over on wrist than on actually reading the map!

throwing 20:00 [3]

Just 20 min outside holiday cottage throwing tennis ball to dad, javelin style. Going pretty well.
