orienteering 1:03:00 [3] *** 6.7 km (9:24 / km)

Ran the A course from yesterday's orienteering event. There were some nice route choice legs, and it was great to be out in the bush. I didn't much like running though, and struggled a bit to keep moving, especially up the hills.

Note

It was the local orienteering event, on the Mandurang map. We had a journalist from the local paper come to find out about orienteering, so she could do a feature article. She was more interested in the people than the sport, but her partner was much more interested in the maps and the sport, etc. I walked around the novice course with them, and we discussed orienteering. Hope to get a run in tomorrow.

run 28:56 [3] 5.0 km (5:47 / km)

Wow - two early runs in a row! Not bad going for me. I always feel a lot better at work if I've had some exercise before work.

run 29:17 [3] 5.0 km (5:51 / km)

Early morning is a great time to get out for a steady no-brain run. Now that we have light at 6am, I'm going to try and get out like this 3 times a week before daylight saving kicks in. Must - fight - the - bed - suction.

rode to & from work 1:26:00 [3] 22.0 km (3:55 / km)

Rode to and from work today. There was a group of people to ride with, and breaky at the town hall, for 'Ride to Work Day'. I was reminded that road bikes move so much faster, more smoothly and, it seems, with much less effort than mountain bikes.
It would be fun to try a road bike sometime....
