Orienteering race 19:43 [5] 3.3 km (5:58 / km)

1:02 off of superman. First win of the season. Many mistakes made nonetheless. Always room for improvement. Doing route choice before making route choice = slight errors at best. Need better read-ahead skill without losing urgency or making larger errors.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Orienteering practice race through heavy forest terrain (Summit Trails)

1. 6 checkpoints. Many of which were hidden if you did not approach from the correct side of a hill.
2. A couple of compass only points. Technical difficulty high.

Executed okay. One mistake required hitting a backstop and recovering.

Orienteering 1:30:00 [3]

1. 600m warmup + stretches and strides.
2. O-Exercise consisted of cones arranged in a pattern on the center of the football field. Goal was to execute a simple route between cones while approaching each cone on the same side as the feature as defined by the control description sheet. Essentially it was a drill to raise awareness about ideal approach as part of our scan.
3. In between each side-of-feature route, we did 300m (200m jog with 100m acceleration)
4. 600m cooldown
5. Core (15 minutes)

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Day 1 2021-2022 Orienteering practice. I guess I'll open the log again. Not a fan of this ritual but willing to play along.

1. Practice: 1.5 mile jog to a start point.
2. Hyper-focus map spotting drill. This means we are focusing on looking down to the map and instantly trying to recognize where we were on the map. as well as spotting the next 2 stepping stones. Then looking up/out to reality and scanning for the next stepping stone. Repeating as often as humanly possible while jogging over stony trails.
3. 1.5 mile jog back to end point.

Rain like usual.
