Adventure 11:44:01 [3] 58.8 km (11:58 / km) +2889m 9:37 / km

After sleeping for 6 hours I made the return run back to the car at Lake Tennyson - I was a bit creaking to start with so walked for the first 20mins until I got warm.. it was pretty cold with frosty wet due around.

I picked up and ate all my food drops at the huts.

At Waiau Hut Alan and Joanna had left a chocolate treat for me!

15km to go I was feeling very tired and my right knee flared up, so I walked the rest of the way. I tuck some anti-inflammatories afterward and have been resting it for the last 2 days - it seems to be doing ok. I will give it another day off and then give it a test run on Thursday.

Anzac Weekend Big Run.

Left work early on Friday evening and drove to Lake Tennyson past Hamner springs, stopping off on the way for lots of food snacks and pick up extra batteries. After flooring it along the gravel roads I slept at Lake Tennyson in the car.

Started running at 5am in the morning - with a little bit of mist meaning the full moon didn't give much assistance. I ran along the gravel road over Mailing Pass, up the Waiau valley, and over the pass into Blue Lake at the top of the Sabine. I had thought I would try to summit the peaks Mt.Franklin, Mt.Travers and Mt.Hopeless but I realized that I was going way to slow for that. The weather was also a bit misty on the tops so I was quite glad to stay down in the valleys. I had been calorie loading the week before - but I think I overdid it as I really wasn't that hungry at all, and I think I brought too much food. I pre-logged my food on trainingPal which was very interesting to see the breakdown of calories as well as Protein/Fat/Carbs, meaning I swapped out a couple of oat bars for protein bars etc.

Tuck my time early on in the day with lots of little breaks for pictures and enjoying the scenery.

Come the night time i was moving quite slowly and was glad to make it to Angelus hut where I had a good warn with the other hut users, got some hot water and some Anzac biscuits! I headed off for Sabine hut but the fog meant I was super slow and had to take bearings alot of the way - ended up walking into a couple of markers!

Arriving at SAbine Hut I decided to call it quits and sleep for a couple of hours. Although I just had my down jacket it wasnt that cold suprisinly.

An evening of tree climbing at Albert Terrace. Climbed the longer tree and put a top rope up on it - was feeling pretty good and wasn't getting that pumped really. Points and axe are starting to get blunt!

Was with Alastair, Owen Benton + Allan brent and tim.

Went to the Roxx afterwards for a couple of burns on the auto belay. I felt like I was climbing very smoothly doing some reps on the 21s and 23s
