Mtb 40:00 [3] 12.0 km (3:20 / km) +100m 3:12 / km

Quick spin to see how my arse felt. It was a bit sore so I took it really slowly and didn't do the drops I normally do. My legs felt super heavy too which was odd after two days off.

Hopefully my bum will be ready for sunday, fingers crossed!

Mtb 1:18:00 [4] 17.8 km (4:23 / km) +400m 3:56 / km
shoes: Merida Matts Speed

Three laps of the bike part just for shits and giggles. I rode quite well except a few bits where I wasn't really looking for the tidiest line and ended up doing some sketchy stuff. I think I must be getting fitter because I can remember that climb being so much harder last time....

I rode the nationals track with a little bit extra tagged on because its so much fun. They are not using that track in this race apparently. The big climb isn't going to be included and they are riding in the opposite direction...

The plot thickens....

Commuting to and from the Clinical School.

I seem to have strained/torn one of my adductor muscles in the process of playing soccer on the weekend. It didn't feel too bad riding unless I am out of the saddle or pulling up on the pedals.

Mtb 35:00 [4] 11.6 km (3:01 / km) +100m 2:54 / km
shoes: Merida Matts Speed

I intended to do a 20MP but after riding home from uni my leg felt a bit stiff so I started out slow. I just did a quick ride around because the weather is so nice and I wanted to see how my soreness felt.

Dunno how I am going to go in the race. I'll rest from karate tonight and see if the leg feels better tomorrow =(

Mtb 34:00 [3] 12.5 km (2:43 / km) +150m 2:34 / km
shoes: Merida Matts Speed

Ride to and from the Clinical School.

Sucks to be back at uni, I was just getting used to the holidays =(

Mtb 33:00 [4] 10.0 km (3:18 / km) +100m 3:09 / km
shoes: Merida Matts Speed

Quick blast around Hobart. I felt a bit tired after riding home from town but I went for a ride anyways. Rode pretty well, but thought I got a flat on one of the downhills. Turns out it was fine, but was a quick heads up that I wasn't concentrating.

Pin it ya' fairy!

Mtb (20MP) 17:14 [5] 6.0 km (2:52 / km) +100m 2:39 / km
shoes: Merida Matts Speed

I am pooped. Chronically. The irony of having a whole week to get faster at riding and being 28 seconds slower at the end of the week burns me.

Mtb 23:00 [3] 7.0 km (3:17 / km) +50m 3:10 / km
shoes: Merida Matts Speed

Riding home from the 20MP. Didn't have much energy/time so I just headed home.

Mtb 2:30:00 [2] 41.0 km (3:40 / km) +300m 3:32 / km
shoes: Merida Matts Speed

Quick Mt run with dad. It was slow. Really slow. Slower than really slow. Dad speed. Yup. Slow.

Then went down the tracks. Silver falls, Drops, S57, The Luge, Home.

Yay!

Mtb (20MP) 17:16 [5] 6.0 km (2:53 / km) +100m 2:39 / km

Meh, was pretty disappointed with this effort. Still felt completely shagged at the top but was 30 seconds slower than my last attempt.

Mtb 43:00 [3] 12.0 km (3:35 / km) +200m 3:18 / km
shoes: Merida Matts Speed

Cool down ride after the 20MP. Was seriously wet after two days of rain so I had to come back early because I was getting so much chain suck. The last third of the ride was spent on the big ring because I couldn't use the others =(

Mtb 2:10:00 [3] 51.0 km (2:33 / km) +500m 2:26 / km
shoes: Merida Matts Speed

Mega uber sunday is funday mountain run. Rode really damn tidy the whole way so I was pretty pleased. Stat padded with a run all the way along pipeline but it was a big ring spin so I still get some credit.

Road, Radford's, S56, Pipeline, Silver Falls, Drops, New tracks that Timmy showed me, lower S57, home.

shoes: Merida Matts Speed

Hokay so! Its holidays time so its time for kenif to make a return! I might keep logging to keep a record of my Wildside preparation. I won't be recording karate, this is a riding log only.

Nice cool down cruisey ride following the 20MP. Ended up with an average speed of 18.1kmph though so it can't have been that slow. Weather was perfect and I rode really tidy =)

Mtb (20MP) 16:46 [5] 6.0 km (2:48 / km) +100m 2:35 / km

Doing some base training based on a hypothesis I have been thinking about for a while. I did some research and came across this article if anyone is interested in the logic.

http://www.biketechreview.com/performance/base.htm

Basically the hypothesis is that to improve fitness you have to put demands on the body that exceed its ability to cope. In doing this, maximum cardiac output should increase and biochemical changes such as an increase in mitochondrial density should follow. Endurance should theoretically therefore improve buy doing short high intensity workouts. I'll be interested to see the results.

To ride fast you have to train hard and rest harder.
