WOC Sprint Qualifiers, quarter, semi, and final finals.

Qualifier: Ran pretty good, some tough hills. Messed up going to 16. I needed to make sure that I hit the side of a hill, before travelling on a trail. Felt pretty good overall.

Quarter final. Got 1st by a few seconds. Pretty clean but got a little bit confused at the start. But it only costed me a few seconds.

Semifinal. Hate myself. Killed my flow after a checkpoint because I got stuck and didn't continue to plan my route. Maybe what I need to do is go through my route more constantly, and micromanage my route more constantly, always looking for the next step. This also seems to be a theme in my other races, outside of sprints as well. I look forward to attempting to practice this tomorrow in the middle.

Final. Went clean, need to look at control descriptions more, and get better at reading them in motion.

Finished 8th.

Mill Creek Sprint

Part of the WOC qualifiers. Priority was to have a solid race and I feel that I did that pretty well, while conservning evergy. The only pathing error came with cp9. I went down too far and should have taken the regular path. I think the path seemed like to high and I panicked. I needed to take a little bit more time to consider my options.

WOC qualifiers at Coronation Park

Overall, pretty happy. Unfortunately mispunched.

Did pretty well at looking up and beaming obvious features to break down legs and finding checkpoints while minimizing the amount of brain power being used.

I feel like a moron because of my complacency regarding the control descriptions. I need to check every single one. I realize that this is insanely easy to do. That's what stings. But, I have more races, and more time to do better.
I think I paced myself pretty well though.

Easy jog near downtown Calgary. Went at about a 530-600min/km pace.

Orienteering (Forest/foot orienteering) 1:53:47 [3] *** 13.96 km (8:09 / km) +341m 7:16 / km

Ran a scramble that was put on. Was pretty fun, but encouraged use of trails a lot. Good practice though, because there was a lot of bike trails. I had a tough time because I had difficulties getting into a flow, and I got complacent. Overall okay.
