Event: 2022 Merry Maybury Mayhem
 

SMOC Maybury Mayhem! Very happy to see a Saturday race. Becca, Elise and puppy Ahnah went out together, Gavin had his 1st solo race, and I went out circling left side if map to bottom west then bottom half of map going east then up the east side and back to start. Since it was Gavin's 1st time solo I set him up with a phone and a livelox live tracking event so I could see his location if he got lost. It worked great but he didn't even need it. He found 4 controls solo until he found Becca and Elise and finished with them.

As for my race I went to candy cane control 1st. Spiked all controls till 56, got combabilated in the windy mountain bike trails even after warning myself in my mind not to let that happen since it happened to me on a ppv Maybury event years back. Lots of lost time there. Wanted to get the garland control #80 as a goal and made it, but still had bonus time so picked up 74 white out and 64 and 58 on the way back to finish as time was running out. At 64 my si stick stopped working so I started snapping photos. At 58 I realized to my horror the punch said my SI was full and that made me realize I forgot to clear and check my si chip., ugh, so walked a lot to the finish after feeling defeated haha.. Should have tried to get 42, 41, and 31 before finishing in retrospect, blah!

Wonderful fun course and some great tricky parts, another great event from Barbara and SMOC, we all had a blast! Merry Christmas!
