11 AM

Run - Trail warm up/down 15:00 [2] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcons 11

Jog to the start. Windy with mist clearing.
12 PM

Run - Orienteering race 1:50:30 intensity: (20:00 @2) + (45:30 @3) + (30:00 @4) + (15:00 @5) 17.0 km (6:30 / km) +400m 5:49 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons 11

JK Day 2. Bit misty heading out, was careful but still missed the first control by about a minute (again was in the right place but couldn't see the pit). Parallel error on the way to #3 losing another minute or so (caused by not being careful enough in the mist) but then got going and made one more mistake in the rest of the course (to #13 I think when couldn't work out what was up or down).

Enjoyed the day more and felt a bit better, still noticeable lack of any race pace and doing two O events since before Christmas just isn't enough to expect to be clean navigating. Dead happy to both move up 25 places or so and to beat all the Irish today. Disappointing not to be in good shape though as I think a 5th/6th position would have been possible.

Run - Trail 15:00 [3] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Jalas 2012

Didn't realise until I left for my start that it was 2km rather than 1km... Had to run a bit harder than planned. Got to the start to be told that I had the wrong number and that I may be DISQ for running with it... (the number collected from registration yesterday, I didn't enter yesterday so what else was it for???).
1 PM

Run - Orienteering race 42:00 [4]
shoes: Jalas 2012

JK Day 1, Merthyr Common, M21E. Pants run, always take a few km to adjust to looking for holes and didn't allow enough for that, lost over 3 minutes at #2 and again at #7 and from then on just wanted to get around quicker than Keith! Caught by my two minute man at #7 and we spent the rest of the course pretty much together, made a huge difference as if you were a few meters off line and failed to see a hole then the other person did (the two I missed I had been with 20m of a couple of times and failed to see). Not my favourite type of orienteering but it should be better tomorrow now that I've got used to looking for nothing. Otherwise happy enough and hope that I saved some energy for the long race.
2 PM

Run - Trail warm up/down 10:00 [3] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Jalas 2012

Slow warm down with Dooby who also had problems looking for holes.

Event: JK 2014

Note
(rest day)

Lovely day for orienteering, unfortunately it wasn't real orienteering so I gave it a miss. Had a good day catching up with people and helping though.

Note
(rest day)

As per yesterday. Nice week of work (went really quickly) but need a bit less time on my feet tomorrow. Roll on the JK.

Note
(rest day)

Long day taking photos for work, some nice wee hills to walk up (mynydd-y-glog - definitely worth looking at for a map, Cribarth was lovely as well) and too tired (and no time) to run. Did get beaten up gain by the Sports Massage guy again.

Super enjoyable MDC hilly run from Carphilly Mountain on a wonderful evening. Had a fast group tonight and we were working hard for quite a bit of it, just resting every now and ten for people to regroup. JTN wouldn't even let the downhills be easy. Through in an extra climb of the Wenallt as I know that Dave enjoys it so much. Quads improving and definitely the source of my wobbly downhill running of late, more work needed on them. Better than super dinner at Haydn's followed.

IW. Lovely sunny morning, almost a joy to be running so early and my body almost agreed, feeling better than it has at this time for ages.

HFW. Should have been feeling good after a very easy week but it was a struggle to keep going. Lovely to be out on a smashingly sunny evening.
