Mountain bike with Mark and Ben around Senghenydd. Lots of puddles but not too muddy. Easy enough as first mountain bike for Ben for a few years. Not liking the big climb but happy enough thereafter.

Trail with with Oli and Ben along the ridgeway and back via Caerphilly Mountain. Wet day but we were lucky enough to get the driest bit. Dressed for the rain so overheated quite a bit. Nothing in the legs after last night.

Easy around Pentyrch. Ground softer after recent rain, but not muddy or slippery. Right hip a bit stiff after yesterday. A surprisingly nice afternoon, though a cold wind.

Map run around St Briavels. Lovely evening so was great to be out and vegetation still low so paths not overgrown. All on footpaths and lanes, so easy navigation, but enough to keep it interesting. Nothing on the climbs at all, so planned a route to minimise them as much as possible. Went for a 20 pointer towards the end and then lost the points by being late back. Fun.

An easy flat run around random bits of Cardiff before a visit to the chiropractor. Was hoping to hit a dry spell but the heavy hail showers but wasn't so lucky - is it really May? Feeling quite a bit better than yesterday but this was still enough and felt quite easy.

First MDC run of the year and a new, and mostly very successful route, from Llwyn-on Reservoir. Cool and windy but was mostly sunny, mostly, as it did start snowing when we were on Cadair Fawr. Body was not up for this unfortunately and I really struggled to keep up with the steady group. Not worried about that though as it's the result of a much harder weekend than my body has been subjected to for quite some time. Was great to be back.

Mountain bike with Matt from the Rhigos around bits of the Skyline (mostly still closed, but nothing stopping you accessing it), Blade and all of White's Level. Rain set in as we arrived and it was horrible heading out in a strong wet headwind. However, once in the valleys and trees the weather became a lot better and the next couple of hours were good fun, if quite battering on the physical side.

Long climb back up from Glyncorrwg was though and technical, but rode it faster than when I did it with Mark a few years ago, which was surprising as I was pushing harder then. Matt low on energy here so we decided to head back rather than doing a few more loops, which was the right decision.

Ride back was long and the rain picked up again, and having parked in the most exposed place, it was horrible and we were wet, cold and hungry by the time we got back. Not surprised that it wasn't busy, but we didn't see another cyclist all day, and only a couple of tyre marks. Tough but good day - will be nicer in better weather..
