walking 30:00 [1] 1.5 km (20:00 / km)

tried out the new lil Go-Anywhere charcoal grill from Weber - works really nice, did a good job on the vegie kebabs & the organic turkey-dogs (kinda nasty texture, don't think I will try those again) out in the sunshine in a local park with the lil doggie on a long blue string watching the kids play frisbee. Then we went off to PoCo to visit family friends, see the baby, took the dogs for a walk in the woods along the river. Lucky swam, Gypsy dabbled.

Note
weight:57.6kg

uh oh. I need to stick pills in my dog. I hope the peanut butter thing is gonna work on these as well....
wonder if my weight slipping gently towards 57 is the reason for my Extreme Fixation on DQ & chocolate.
Spicey Vietnamese noodles tonight, tofu, broccoli, onion, red pepper, peas, maybe zucchini.

walking 23:00 [1] 1.2 km (19:10 / km)

very tired and weak today again despite another 8.5 hr of sleep - felt quite ill but could tell that some fresh air would be good - went down to Taylor park for an hour and a half just sitting on park bench watching other dogs play fetch (fascinating but incomprehensible to the G-dog who prefers that we both go and look at the thrown object. Repeatedly) Felt much better when we got home. broken cloud, refreshing wind, our windows are getting cleaned which freaked G out til I remembered I have to sit down & read the paper as if it is normal, then she realizes it's normal. But she kept watching the guy closely all the same. No cooking tonight, tofu some other time...

walking 20:00 [1] 1.0 km (20:00 / km)

down the first bit of stairmaster, then left along the parkway & back home - played very nicely w/ Cassie, met big tall golden Teak & the G-dog TOTALLY pee'd herself w/ joy. And then rolled in it. Wiped her down upon arrival home. Humid & warm, overcast. Looked for cat but no cat.
Second bit of tuna tonite, w/ just Emeril's spice mix on it, & will endeavour to arrange consumption promptly after cooking...asian greens w/ garlic & ginger, carrot-pea mix w/butter sauce, brown rice, mango...then vet visit for Itchy Dog, & obedience class for Disobedient (OK, Indolent) Dog...
by the way, organic fruit & veg DO NOT taste better. They taste crappier alotta the time, small, dried-out, dotted with scars & rottiness... what DOES taste better are what people think of as organic, ie Alice Waters, Chez Panisse-type veg, which are ARTISANAL (and often organic as well), ie hand-cossetted fruit & veg...those do taste better.

walking 25:00 [1] 1.4 km (17:51 / km)

out to Taylor Park via the greenway between Cortina & the school. overcast but warm. did some "obedience"...some rather nice wildflower plantings - it is always interesting to see which flowers actually reseed and survive - usually not many kinds actually make it to the second year, but the first year is very pretty.
Ethical (line-caught?) tuna for dinner, I cut the piece in half so we'll have another bit of it tomorrow. Tried a sauce from Emeril's website, but it seems kinda.... bitter, don't think I'll ever really get continental cooking. Broccoli w/ oyster sauce, the brie I bought last night is on a cutting board thinking about things, some baby red potatoes w/ parsley butter... kiwis...

walking 15:00 [1] 0.7 km (21:26 / km)

another walk in the evening, met Coby & had a great wiggle session w/ Leonardo as well.
Finished Curiosity Shop, Little Nell very annoying, liked reading about Kit & Dick Swiveller much more, but 500 pages plus, can't complain too much... what am I gonna read next?! maybe some Nevil Shute to pass the time before the last Harry Potter comes out...

walking 25:00 [1] 1.2 km (20:50 / km)

very nice walk down the ravine and back up mostly in the woods, very humid & quite a few flies, salmonberries & huckleberries yummy, Gypsy had another Phantom Snake Episode (she has only seen one snake in her life, & it never touched her, but slithered quickly away into the bush, but ever since then she has been able to vividly imagine snakes touching her hind feet whenever she is feeling the least bt spooked, & does the Shiba Inu Snake-Foot Boogie to get them off...)
salmon w/ lemon-pepper-dill, gonna roast it more slowly in the oven to see how that goes, corn in cob, nice rice blend, watermelon, raspberries - feels like summertime!

walking 55:00 [1] 2.9 km (18:58 / km)
weight:58.2kg

finding it hard to remember what I do these days at the end of the day...went to train station, library, bank, groceries... two walks, heard about Jack getting bit on the lip by a fox terrier ("like the one on Frasier"...., OK) Gypsy is checking out all the kids ever since that one "gave" her a cookie last week. She thinks kids are the bestest. Flare very slowly reducing, I could bend my L hand this morning, so good. Feet OK, too. Energy generally poorly managed, using useless strategy of "use it all up" - rethink...
Working thru Indian cookbook, am getting hang of curries at last! yogurt not curdling anymore just gently disappearing into sauce.
Am going to try approaching 57 kg again (lighter on joints) maybe having been at 58 for a while will make it less exhausting to go down this time. BMI 19.7 s/b OK, esp. w/ low muscle mass...

Note

going to the Shiba Inu Ranch yesterday was fun & fact-filled as usual. Gypsy, despite being sold initially as a pet, appears to have sufficiently good adolescent conformation, personality, & health to be good enough to perhaps have babies! They will have another looksee when she is a year old.Apparently they like her in part cuz she played well w/ her tiny baby cousins (for hours!).
Cranberry oat pancakes for breakfast. Rainy.

Note

did some kind of walking today but can't remember how much - I THINK I did walk around neighborhood at about 2pm, and then we scouted canoeing locations w/ pup leading to more walking - Deas Slough looks GREAT, Canoe Reach (oddly) not so much, really messy-to-non-existent put-ins. There was an first-nations youth N cops thing prepping for a multi-day paddle, about 14 huge first nations-styled canoes, downto Tsawwassen, then across Strait to Victoria, very exciting!!
Lightening, hail, monsoon-like rain followed by sunshine and double rainbows...
