Note

great sleep as usual. mmmm... so, sunshine, dogwalk, laundry & bread happened yesterday, but not yoga. So, yoga will happen today. plus some sunshine which has not been on the forecast at all. Gonna do up some mahi mahi in a Lousiana pan-fried catfish style, as per Emeril LaGasse.

Yellow Dog Yoga 30:00 [1]

YDY in the morning. leg joints started out pretty painful, but they got better.

walking 24:00 [1] 1.2 km (20:00 / km)

Checked to see if new Liberty Jeep was downstairs & it wasn't. Dropped off garbage, dropped off spare plastic bags, interviewed Tessa re recent operation & subsequent dopey collar, heard more Coyote Reports. Escaped into woods. Dug large hole, looked at wild cherry blossom in woods. Looked at groc. store door for Sunday hours (they are having an Easter Egg Hunt). Tried to eat smashed eggs off sidewalk. Took a trip down memory lane, ie visited Poo Hill, saw a wren. Snuck thru formal garden where we are not supposed to be. Home again after 1.25 hours. Tea. Kibbles. Morrocan carrot salad.

weight:62.6kg

having babbled about outliers, I thought I'd better weigh myself...but what was my starting point?! I'll have to look back...
OK, March 8, March 8...63.4 kg Mar 9. OK...
have decided post-lent menu-planning will involve a week of magazine-clipping recipes (highlight: pork loin slow-cooked in root-beer for pulled pork sandwiches, BBQ sauce TBA) & then a week of GoodtimeGirl recipes (highlight: a caprese salad that is Roasted, hmmmm) & a posh 5-course (modified/simplified!!) Holland America online menu to celebrate my dad-in-law buying us a one of those ship-came-thru-Panama-Canal-early-so-it--needs-to-waste-a-few-days-while-it-warms-up-enuf-in-Alaska mini-cruises, Vancouver-Victoria-Seattle, what a blast.
Tonight, salmon cakes & pissaladiere (I love saying that) from GoodtimeGirl. Today, sunshine, laundry, bread-making, gardening, dog-walking, & perhaps some yoga.

walking 36:00 [1] 1.8 km (20:00 / km)

grandiose sunshiney walk down the hill & then back thru Taylor park, stopping to have an apple & a dog biscuit. Met one dog, saw a kildeer.

walking 32:00 [1] 1.6 km (20:00 / km)

up to Choices to check on dog-attack (there was no dog-attack) & then down the creek by various more-or-less woodland meanders, visited w municipal workers (G's favorite thing) & back up. Cold & spitty, hail?

Yellow Dog Yoga 10:00 [1]

went down to swim, felt a bit out of sorts so stretched & kicked etc in hot-tub for a bit longer.

swimming 19:00 [1]

but then I felt good once I got in the pool so I swam quite a bit, resting floating & looking at the clouds & blue sky...practiced my other side-stroke so I would be more balanced.

walking 24:00 [1] 1.2 km (20:00 / km)

unusual route over around Cortina and back, leisurely, a bit chilly, met a nice family & a white dog. Thought about blackberry picking in August, and which kids I can invite. Maybe ask over Bram & Natalie for swimming next week...

Note

dog-wrestling & general dog-whumping is on-going but in small, unloggable fragments, or in tag-team efforts as D & I gang up on G. I also had a good haul at the recycler a few days ago so we have been doing unwrap-the-box treats instead, ie where she spends 20 minutes tearing thru a series of nested boxes & retrieving the various dog-snax hidden in the layers, thereby also creating her patented "Livingroom of Trash" look, eat yer heart out martha.

walking 34:00 [1] 1.7 km (20:00 / km)

same route w extra bits added for variety - met Shelly, Pongo, & Aurora. Gonna rest a bit today as yesterday was quite tired in the evening. Also, gotta try to improve feet as they hurt quite a bit albeit in an ignorable/walk-out-able way (walk-out-able - its a word)- ignoring is definitely a valid solution, but I feel I should try to help enbrel along in actually reducing overall inflammation instead of just instantly co-opting any extra physiological "room" afforded by the treatment. Hips sore from stretching so will focus on just gait & posture. Work on neck RoM too so swimming is easier. Gonna try punjabi fish curry w the mahimahi...

walking 8:00 [1] 0.4 km (20:00 / km)

evening walk, played w Casper The Smallest Yorkie, who as it turns out likes girls who are blonde & a whole lot taller than he is...

core/upper - horsing about 10:00 [1]

there was dog-sandwich time after all...w dog-grunts & flailing fangs, yet.

walking 32:00 [1] 1.6 km (20:00 / km)

same route as yesterday w a bit extra for wandering around to meet other dogs, to wit, Nicky, Ariana (twice), Happy, Cassie, & Sophie. Also saw The Coyote (Bane of The Neighborhood) twice, G completely mesmerized both times, more interesting than dogs!! but does not want to visit. just look.
Saw a flicker, robin wars, more new flowers, & heard a chickadee three-note mating song, different from its alert-call, the typical "chik-a-dee-dee-dee". Misty sunshine very nice.
Vegan chili w fun toppings & rest of bubble-bread, toasted w oregano butter.

walking 26:00 [1] 1.3 km (20:00 / km)

afternoon walk, super sunny but still crisp, down to Ledgestone thru the woods & back up the road, read W&P, played w Cassie on the parkway before returning home for tea. No coyotes.

Monday Mar 17, 2008 #

walking 56:00 [1] 2.8 km (20:00 / km)

AM dog-walk, dug a big hole thereby thoroughly disrupting the lives of a bunch of voles living beside Taylor Park, cold & pervasive mist countered by (in my case) cunning layers & cute Paddington Bear hat. Met Pongo, Wilbur & Rocky. G-dog, possessing much less fur than before, was glad to go home & try to crawl into fireplace after an hour of this. Also train DT to bank, bought gorgonzola, artichoke hearts, & 4 fab books on special, Walden, Gr. Expectations, & Mansfield Park. and two cadbury eggs both of which I shall eat.
slept well, nasty symptoms from yesterday gone.

Note

D pointed out this evening that we LIVE on an O-map courtesy of pi!
http://www.orienteeringbc.ca/gvoc/maps/files/Byrne...
so home base is the grey square just south of the formal garden (fountains) & the hexagonal train station, Taylor Park is further south w deep yellow & path-circle, stairmaster heads off SW from home base, from cul-de-sac to cul-de-sac, & then there are all the creek trails, & "the other park" on the other side of the ravine. Fun, huh?!

slept:7.5 weight:62.6kg

sunny, dim sum today w Alfie...

Yellow Dog Yoga 20:00 [1]

AM before dimsum, stretch & strength, breathing, trying to work my hips back open to reduce stork-walk.

walking 32:00 [1] 1.6 km (20:00 / km)

same route as yesterday but w the "extra" down in the woods rather than in the sun, cuz there was no sun, only surprising cold & a light chilly breeze. So woods it was, dug another huge hole, played w great globs of sheddy fur from yesterday (VERY exciting to encounter one's own fur in the woods apparently!). Then I completely conked out when we got home - very achey, no energy, & chills. Hot bath, doze, & Chinese delivery revived me somewhat. hope it does not develop further.
